How much do you guys reckon commuting on an NTV650 45 miles a day will cost? , its 2 miles onto a motorway then fast filtering for another 18 miles then another 5 miles though city streets , all during the 8AM-9AM and 5.30PM-6.30PM.(the motorways at rush hour turn into a large slowly moving car park).
Just seen a job and it looks pretty good to get some work experience thing is the pay is awful and the hours aren't consistant so that one day might earn me £10-£20 another £50 , and much as I don't mind working for lowish pay to get me foot in the door I can't live on fresh air and don't have deep savings to dig into.
Any idea the cost on a CB250 ? (seen a cheapo one nearby which might be worth me while).
Any ideas?

I'd reckon you could get 45-55mpg out of an NTV quite easily, frugal on tyres too. For 50 miles a day, won't cost a lot at all. I did a similar amount back in my 400 days (which would be similar on running costs). Could afford it as a student (working part time), no more than £10-£15 a week on petrol, new rear tyre every 4000 miles at £120 a hoop, oil changes every couple of thousand miles (2 months). Not a lot needed really.
The 250 would be cheaper still, but not as capable/comfortable (mind you, only 2 miles on the motorway...... ) |

I do the same distance in the mornings myself. 2 miles to Motorway, 18 M-way miles and about 3 miles of dual carriageway to the office.
On the Divvy I can nip through the traffic up the motorway in the morning and back down the slightly longer twisty back road after work. I use about 15 quid of fuel a week and just about to replace my tyres (165 quid) after 6k miles since August.
Bar the 350 quid exhaust, new oil filter, rack, box and rear hugger, it's been a cheap way to commute... .
