I have installed a new engine in my NSR and since then it constantly spills out with a white/blue smoke,

the bike will run for a little while then stall and wont start again.

the only thing i can think that would cause this (and i dont know a great deal about engines) is too much oil getting in to the engine and causing the spark plug to get clogged up.

Does anyone know if this is right and how i can adjust it?

Or if there is anything else it could be?

Thank you

Mike

check your oil pump . undo the cover , put max openning at the throttle handle and look if the notches are in front . if not on the cable you've got an adjuster , use it to adjust , it's simple . bue smoke can occur when you are not using fully synthetic 2 strokes oil use motul 600 or castrol TSX . if those things have no effect it's probably a faulty oil pump and it's not free to replace (£60 around) but all 2 strokes engine make smoke during the warming (could be up to 5 mn) and stop afterwards

Thank you for your response, i have adjusted the oil pump the notchs line up.

But now when its warm when i release the clutch (anywhere between 3 - 8000 revs) it loses power and stalls, i have put an old spark plug in it (but there was no build ups or visible damage on it) i will try replacing it with a new one tomorrow to see if that has any effect.

Thank you again

Mike

white smoke could indicate crankshaft oil seals are gone and its burning your gearbox oil, and sucking air in. only way i can think of to check is how my mate found out, he ran the bike with little to no gearbox oil and it didnt smoke, as soon as he put oil in the thing shat smoke out

I have just had a thought, could the loss of power when the clutch is released be a blocked air filter (or something along those lines)?

i dont think so , but cost nothing to clean the foam as shown in the manual . could be a air leak behind the carb , but certainly a compression problem . go to your nearest mechanic and have a test on compression
