PostPosted: 16:37 - 09 May 2006    Post subject: A Welcome Insurance Renewal! Reply with quote

My insurance renewal is due next month, so I have been getting a few quotes together.

Last year I paid £711 F+T on my CBR400, with motorcycle direct. This was the best quote I got at the time.

This year, with an extra years no claims, I have managed to get it down to £280 for the same cover, thats with CIA. I am just waiting now for a renewal letter from Motorcycle Direct, to see what they can offer me.

Anybody reccomend any good insurance?

I have tried Bennetts, CIA, E-bike, and Churchill. Bennetts and CIA are the best 2 up to yet.

Hi,

Bennetts dont inlcude cover to ride bikes you dont own and charge extra for pillions.

The riding other bikes can be useful and borth paying a bit extra for.

I didnt think I was old enough to ride other bikes on my insurance policy.

Can anybody tell me if there is a minimum age?

Hi,

there is no legal minimum age but some insurance companies only give it those over a certain age.

And ebike have changed from last year and dont offer it anymore so thats me moving ! Shame I have been really happy with them.

Regards

Ahh right. I will have to make sure I ask the insurance companies when I call for quotes. If I can get this, I am looking forward to the summer, as my parents go away, leaving my dads bike in the garage Cool

I'm 22 on a KLE 500. Last years price would have been about £600, (I bought it six months into an existing policy) This year A Quote wanted £400 for renewal. I phoned them back and they did another search and got it down to £220 TPF&T.

I didn't even haggle, they just halved the price, no questions. Might be worth getting a quote from them. I swear by Choice Quote and H&R aswell.

My insurance is due end of this month. I been looking around a lot of the online bike insurance places, and getting as many quotes as I can. I was with Bennetts last year with my gsxr600, and only last month changed my bike to the Buell XB12R Firebolt. (Paid an extra £18 for one month cover of change of bike)

Bennetts have come up with a renewal premium for my new bike of £617.55, though they have also offerred an alternative cover of £356.57, though that is without legal cover and some other benefits.ie europeon coverage, breakdown etc

The lowest I have been quoted was from ebike insurance which has all the benefits, and got quoted £249 + £50 to get my leathers insured ontop! I'm happy with this quote, as every other insurance company was considereably more. Mostly in the £600 plus bracket to over £1000....

Extremely happy as this is for fully comp cover and only have 2yrs NCB. Thumbs Up
