It rules. Cool

Took 2 teeth off the front (only cost £10 with next day delivery with wemoto)

I only had a quick drive down my road because im not insured yet and had no helmet on (i live in a quiet area safety nazis)

Saw an areal atom or what ever its called when i was putting the sprocket on. Looked uber cool Was slightly green the guy was wearing shorts and t-shirt you could see his whole body, was very strange and he was wearing a stig helmet with a black visor. I think he lives on my estate so gonna go looking for it sometime. Cool

Anyway i put the sprocket on and accelerated a bit and it took me by supprise, no joke the front started to feel really light at about 6,000 revs and came up alot easier than i expected. Second gear felt like first. As it was quite a small road and i have no helmet i didn't do anything really silly so called it a night.

Anyway downgear your bike, acceleration is crazy. Cool

Would do, however I feel downgearing my bike would be an unwise decision as it would reduce my already pitiful top speed of around 55mph to about 40mph and change my gearchange times from every second to every milisecond Laughing

According to kickstart 3 teeth off the front on a 150mph bike would bring it down to 119.

My bike would probably top out at about 135 with -2. I would rather the insane acceleration as i would use it more. If i need more than 135 i can always put the original sprocket back on. Smile

Im thinking of chucking two extra on the back one. As i dont have a centrestand anymore it makes more sense. As you say, ill wait until i need to change the C+S.

If you do it right it can raise your top speed apparently.

No pics yet mcgee, i have put a load of gold parts on and need to cut the mudguard off and stick the 8x2 on.

Bonny if you add more to the front or less off the back it increases top speed.

Less off the front or more on the back increases acceleration.

-1 on the front is the equilivent of 3 on the back so i have basically done -1 -3. Thumbs Up

Also the zzr has a front wheel speedo drive, if you have a sprocket speedo drive then it will give out the wrong reading.

Yeh, i know how gears work Wink

However, if you downgear it helps it rev out in top gear.

If you tend to find (like i do) that in top the revs finish before redline then it CAN make it faster.

Doesnt always happen. But im mainly getting it done for one wheel nuttiness, but also it feels like youve chucked on 20bhp in the lower gears Laughing

Yeh me too, Powering it up in first from 6,000 revs is cool.

I want to learn to hold the balance point and change gears properly when i get riding again. I couldn't get the knack of changing in the air, it would just drop. Confused

You could try a clutch-less shift. Would save you from dropping when you go to change up. Question

Yeh thats what i was doing, i think i wasn't quite at the balance point, as i put it into second it would drop quite a bit and not have the power to bring it back up. Confused

I will try harder on the zzr as i dont care if i crash/fall off etc.

Usefulness depends on what your gonna use the bike for. Fuel economy suffers and top speed is reduced but i downgeared my nc35 by one off the front and i much prefer it. Easier overtakes and faster acceleration from lower in the rev range, no where in croydon i can go over a ton anyway!

I changed the gearing on my yzf750 a few years ago, I loved the extra acceleration, but I had to relearn all my favourite corners as I found I was running out of revs all the time when exiting. Motorways felt wrong as the bike wasn't really comfy at 70mph, it was just into the power and surge forward with small throttle movement, then there was the fuel consumption.....My g/f hated it as it tended to wheelie easily with her on the back, specially going up hills.
