Sorry about the amount of questions and uncertainty on this subject, I really should know what to get but I am finding everything that looks ideal is always out of my price range.
The VFR has some electrical shit happening to it, the mechanic I have been using has fucked me around and basically come up with nothing. I am speaking to an expert in this field and a specialist in import 400’s tomorrow, I think I’m going to get another bike now, I seriously can’t wait anymore, I need some wheels.
The plan is to get the VFR on the road in the near future but get something else so I can get to and from work when I want.

So I reckon I can stretch to £3,500
I love the look of that new shape CBR600RR but they are all over 4K, a 1000’s seem to be harsh on insurance unless I go for an ancient bike and all the twins that I want are in that CC range. Thumbs Down

So maybe it’s an idea to look at the 600’s, 400’s are getting on a bit now, but the bikes I seem to be able to afford have had bad write ups from what I gather.
The R6 is a bike I’ve never wanted to own, it seems like a common sight and I don’t would enjoy owning one, and as for the Gixxer, well I seriously would consider it if it wasn’t for the comments from various riders about the quality of build.
As you can see I’m after something sporty, I don’t like the Thunder cat before you ask and that goes for anything that is like a semi tourer. I don’t mind a little discomfort it’s a bike for one so it’s to be expected, it’s unfortunate I cant get the CBR600RR as it does seem like the machine for what I will use it for.

What would you suggest at this price range?

Thanks

Killa

Might just be able to stretch to a B1 model ZX6 if you're lucky.

Can I ask, what is it in particular about the build quality that is worrying you? I've not seen anything which has concerned me about the quality. I wouldn't let what a mate of a mate who knew some guy that might have said something put you off a bike. Wink

TBH True, i havent seen Gixxer's blow up or anything, just been warned that you get niggles with them and that can annoy you after some time.

https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/kawasaki-zx-7r_W0QQitemZ4637655004QQcategoryZ9807QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I looked at this picture, and that is my sort of bike, no idea what the machines like in general.
I did read all the write ups on my last thread about this bike, but im still not sure if it will chew me up and spit me off.

Not really, a fair bit more tame than a new 600 I would have thought.

Were it me and I was wanting a fun fast bike, I'd definitely spend a £1k more and get a B model ZX6; or spend less and get a J model ZX6.

They may not have the classic looks; but when you're not looking at the bike, it'll be a load more fun.

TBH I’m not looking for hyper performance, I’m sure that 750 is fast enough for me.
I don’t really stunt and I don’t want too much of a risk on my license, is there any benefits of the B and J model Kwak over that 750 in other areas other than performance?

I would be inclined to go for the newest bike I could afford. Bikes have come on a lot since 1998.

I rode my ZX10R back from Newcastle to Lincoln which got fairly interesting. New bike = new tyres and it bloody rained near scotch corner!! and again near York!! and again near Newark!!

But Glasgow is quite a bit further away, but i think i could have done it.
