Went out for a ride on Saturday all was going well. Then all of a sudden at the traffic lights sat in first gear the bike started to pull me forward despite the clutch being pulled in. Tried to take off stalled. Couldn’t get it out of first to neutral so I could not get out of the road. Eventually managed to get it in to neutral and wheeled to the side of the road. I could not figure out what was wrong with it. Rang my father in law he came and he adjusted the clutch cable it had become slack (new bike run in now and was due its 500 mile / 6 month service to adjust stuff)

He fixed the cable using the adjuster. Thing is now that the biting point on the lever is so far out that it I have to near enough let the lever go before the bike will start to pull forward. Where as before I could ease the lever and the bike would start to move now I have to let it get to the end of my finger tips then it starts to pull.

How can I adjust it so its not going to crap out on me again but not so that its so far out that I feel its going to stall and not go!

Cheers

Catherine

Twiddle the adjuster until it feels right. You usually adjust them to leave about 5mm of free play on the cable when the lever is fully released but this may vary from bike to bike.

On some bikes there's usually two places where the cable can be adjusted.

One is up by the handlebar linkage and theres usually another just down by where the clutch cable disappears into the engine. Might be worth adjusting both of them.
