got a big hole in my exhurst any suggestion on how to fix it so it will pass m-o-t

How big a hole, where in the exhaust, what is the exhaust made of?

its about 3cm and it is on the pipe gping to the engine of a scooter exhurst

The header pipe? (between the engine and the silencer)

That's a pretty damned big hole.

You could try using an exhaust bandage round it. There is a good chance the repair will fail though. Youi should be able to get exhaust bandage from most car spares shops.

Or you could try patching it using gum gum. Cut up a steel beer can so you have a strip of metal that wraps sungly round the exhaust and extends an inch either side of the hole. Smear gun gum all over the underside of the beer can, wrap it round the bit of pipe with the hole then secure it tightly. Do this by either tightly wrapping steel wire along the length of the patch (better) or by putting 2 jubilee clips on, one either side of the hole (easier).

If you are really keen, you could also bandage over the top of a wired-on patch.

It could still fail.

Or alternatively, stop attempting various bodges & get it welded...

If you can weld up a 3cm hole in a rusty, mild steel header pipe, such as those fitted to most scooters on the roads, you are one hell of a welder.

Dont even try and bandage it. Its pants. I did it on my Cagiva Mito and it lasted approx 4 mins 32 seconds No way around it except weld or replace. And as already said those scooter exhausts rust and rot to feck. Replace it mate

Stinkwheel is right, if its corroded enough to leave a 3cm hole then theres not a chance in hell you'll be able to weld it. If you try to weld it, it will just burn a bigger hole.

Buy a new one. (pipe, not scooter, although buying a new scooter will solve the problem as well!)
