Well, I've been looking at BikeTrader.

I'm nearly 16, so i will be having a 50cc, but.

How come a new 125cc Yamah/Aprilia crosser are priced at only £1,350.

And for a new 50cc im looking at £2,000.

I mean, 125cc's are more powerful so shouldn't they be more expensive?

I'm considering a Gilera GSM 50, and i've heard there £2,000 new.

Why is this? Help appreciated. Thanks!

No.

Supply and demand, market competition and so on.

Rather depends on the condition of the bike.

I'm sure you could find an R1 that's cheaper than a scooter if you looked for a nice scooter and a shagged R1.

Great way to get people not to reply. We, believe it or not, are not here just to serve you Smile.

Anyway, what new Yamaha / Aprilia 'crosser' is available for £1350 Confused.

Year old 50cc's settle out at £1,000 and drop <£100 a year after that.

Save your cash and get a senda / rx / gsm with a few thousand km on the clocks for half the price of a new one.

Even if it chews it's engine it'll cost you £100 to get it going again.

I been telling him to buy a cheap 2nd hand crosser, the depreciation on new ones is totally ridiculous. Mine is on eBay at the moment for £900, about two years ago it would have been worth about £2000 (Or thereabouts). It is better off to buy a battered old DT50 for a year or so, then buy a nice 125 or do your A2 and get a big bike.

But then again, you confessed to me that you won't be wearing a helmet, will be taking pillion, will be riding derestricted and many more lovely chavvy things so I don't see why people should advise you.

If you listen to only one thing I say, make it this:

Spending £2000 on a 50cc motorcycle, infact spending over a grand is ridiculous, trust me, I've evidently learnt the hard way.

Ive got a second hand 50cc scooter, i didnt see the point in paying so much for a new one then selling it a year later.

Look around, get a nice/looked after scooter and save your self a few hundred quid

I don't exactly want a Scooter because i want to ride offroad, because there is a VERY LARGE quarry near me, and it's great for offroading (I tryed my cousins 250cc on it).

My mum is trying to talk me into having a Yamaha Aerox R new, yes it's nice, but very unsuitable for offroad.

Phantom, i've told you, i was joking.....

Well. I've been looking at biketrader, and theres a fewbikes, but i'm looking at around 1.4grand for a 2year old crosser 50cc? If anybody's selling one towards September, contact me please Smile

Unless you are going to get a old cheap off road bike you wont want to take it off road, will wreck the bike and it will be worth much less when you come to sell it. Plus you shouldnt ride at quarrys as almost every single one is private property so you will be riding illigally and could get you bike taken away and crushed.

Na, the quarry by us, we know the person who owns it, he lets bikers on on a saturday, and jeeps on on a sunday. It's a massive quarry with plenty of hills, bumps, long patchs for topspeeding, its great.
