In 1992, I got given £50s worth of premium bonds. I want to cash them in to pay for a new tyre, and going on my calculations (5% annual interest, 5 year bonus, possibly a 10 year bonus?) it's now worth at least £135.

Does anyone know much about cashing them in? The process, and how long it takes? Ideally I need the money in about a weeks time. Rolling Eyes

Erm unless I understand wrong, you dont get interest on premium bonds?

This may be of some use to you if these are what you hold.

Ah, they're not actually premium bonds, they're children's bonus bonds. I know they accrue interest because there's a 5 year interest period on the form I have, saying that in 1997 they were worth about £87. Thumbs Up

That site seems to explain a fair bit anyway, I'll email them and ask. Thumbs Up
