Well basically my life is getting boring, I work, I hang out with my friends and I ride my bike, all perfectly normal passtimes and fun none the less. That said I still find myself bored and uninspired so I was thinking I need a project, something fun and interesting that leaves me with some kind of end result to enjoy/have misguided pride in. There however is one problem, I lack the skills to go the whole 9 yards and spend a lot of money on something I know nothing about so the whole rebuilding/repairing old bikes for pleasure use/insanely fun toys (my ideal project dream) is a bit far fetched just yet, but I don't want to just build a chair and be like "woah I made a chair......"
So just wondering if anyone here has any hobbies or projects they have considered or completed which have been worthwhile without being too deep for the novice..... *insert appropriate skill*

Well mate if your into making stuff, try PIC programming. It envolves electronics and is really easy to learn. There are many example projects out there that u can build test and try so you can get a feel for it. There is also a large hobbiest knowledge base as well just search for PIC Tutorials! just an idea hth.

Try making yourself into a scary mofucker at the gym. The gym is the best place to do a project as it would benefit you in so many ways, and can cost as little as £20 a month.

As far as the PIC thing, I have no clue what that is about so I'm going to go google it and have a look, but the gym..... why pay get in shape, it's pretty easy realistically to get fit without joining a gym, and I don't want to be ridiculously ripped or anything so working a physical 9-5 and working out at home will probably do me for the time being. Also I'm lazy as all hell so unless I can buy stuff and do it at home/work I probably won't be doing it. Laughing

Well if you want to get into isolated muscle training to tear the fibres and get you muscles improving in strength and size then that is why. Because 99% of the time people wouldnt have the equipment to do so at home.

Getting youself in shape is different to "turning yourself into a scary mofucker at the gym", in shape is just fitness training like running/cycling. I was referring to focused weight training that would require you to join a gym.

So that is why pay to get in shape, Sammyboy said so! Razz

How about building model kits, you can get high on the glue at the same time.

I try and keep myself busy with er..lots of things!

Bikes have been an obsession for quite a while now, I also play with electronics every so often.
Cars have been an obsession for pretty much most of my life and I'm currently in the (long) process of gathering the parts needed to fit one of the spare engines I have into the mini (which is half built) and turbo it (Vauxhall e16se for those interested).

I'm sure there are more things, but anything I don't know about I try and learn about, Wikipedia is great for things like History and politics if they are of any interest (this country is great if for no other reason than theres loads to read about it!)
