Lo!

For those who don't know me, I ride a 99 'busa. Currently, it's in posession of a K&N Highflow air filter, and a pair of stock OEM cans.

It does however, have a pair of unbaffled (hehehe) carbon cans.

Having spoken to Dynojet, apparently even their stock "Stage 1" Power Commander (II or III models) will assist it, even with the OEM cans. Apparently the K&N doesn't actually ramp it up "that much" (unquote).

Anyone stuck one on a stock bike (even a non-busa!) and noticed anything?

I should add, I've potentially got a PCII on stupidly cheap offer....

ive got a tt600 that has had its ecu reprogrammed with a tuneboy lead and software, giving a similar effect to a power commander

i much prefer the power delivery on it to other tt600s i tried

smoother and better low and mid range torque.

not sure whether it is worth doing for a busa as you have loads of low down torque anyway but its definitely good for a 600

probably is worth doing tho as i reckon stock fueling settings at mid and low revs have more to do with meeting emmisions and sound legal standards than optiumum performance

It can always be improved on. Tbh, even the maps uploaded using a power commander or tune boy can be improved on a lot as they are just generic maps.

Standard maps are a compromise between power, economy, emmisions and reliability. You can improve on one often at the expense of another.

If you're going to mess about with the air filter and exhaust, you should definately use a power commander to sort out the fuelling.

Otherwise you're just spending money to make it run worse. Noisier, but worse.

Well, if I understand it correctly, the PC should be analysing the sensor inputs for fuel & air, and then changing the mix. The chap at Dynojet said that the default stage 1 Euro map will improve performance on a stock bike, or a stock bike with just a K&N filter (as I have).

It's going to be relatively easy to see if runs better in terms of economy (fuel usage), as I'm averaging 10.2 mpl presently - and at (very) low speeds in low gears it does have some characteristics which I'll notice changing Smile

I've got a completely stock 05 Blade and I've literally in the last 2 weeks stuck a PCIII on it. If I knew then, what I know now I'd have stuck one on my last two Blades as well. It's really helped with the roll off roll on throttle response and made the whole power delivery more smooth and linear feeling. It sort of gives the bike a feeling of serenity, for the want of a better description. Dynojet claim that a manufacturer only optimises the bike to around 60% and the PC will optimise to 85-90%. I can't say what it'll be like on a Busa but it's well worth it on the Blade.

Heh, well after some haggling with it's eBay seller, I have a PCII (hopefully) enroute in the post (Dynojet assure me the II and III models are 99% the same, just a slightly different operating method and USB connection on the III).

It's coming with the (revised) stock map for the '99 busa on it (it came off a 2000 bike which shares the maps) so hopefully soon I'll be plugging and playing.

Have you seen the new 'boost' feature available for the PCIII on free download?

The Accelerator Pump feature? I've got it enabled on the road settings, it makes the bike a bit loopy though. It's ok if you're in a go for it kind of mood, but for town use and the morning commute it sort of does away with the bit I liked. Without it enabled on the standard settings it made the bike a lot easier for town use and bumbling about on. It's probably going to be one of those things I mess about with occasionally when I go out for a run, rather than daily use. It's easy enough to switch off and on so I'll use it as mood dictates. Probably won't do the petrol consumption much good either as the road setting is a 20% increase when accelerated!

It's a nice bit of kit, made the bike even more enjoyable. I got mine shipped in from the States on a good exchange rate. Whether it's worth the £280 that Dynojet sell em for new over here though I don't know.

Yup, thats the one Smile

My PCII just arrived, I've fitted it, told the insurance people, and as the weather is behaving, I'm off to see what the stock map does.... Smile

(and 2nd hand, cost me £75, with a £49 change in insurance - result!)

Just been out with it, and agree with you, it's smoother, better fuel consumption, but by christ has it upped the acceleration!
