I want to do my A1 bike test soon so I can get rid of my L plates and unrestrict my Aprilia to 33bhp. Ive also almost completed my full car test but I have a few questions. If I pass a A1 bike test (light motorcycle), apart from allowing me to unrestrict my bike to 33bhp and remove the L plates, what else will it entitle me to? Does it allow you to take a passenger on the back?

just do the 'A' test, rather than the light motorcycle one
A1 - restricted to 125cc and 14.6bhp
A - restricted to 33bhp
i think you have them confused

I dont see the point in doing the A test as I cant afford to get a bigger bike than a 125, and the A1 is easier and quicker to do. I plan to do the A test in a few years when im 19 or 20.

I think there the same really, the A1 is pointless and you will have to pay for another test later on aswell

Yepp but the A test costs near £500 to take, and is about 5 days long.

If you are going to take your A test you may as well save your money and ride around on L plates until then. Its still going to cost you a few hundred to take you're A1 so you may as well put that towards you A2, then instead of waiting until you're 19 you could maybe get it when your 17/18 and will then be able to ride your 125 fully derestricted legally (as long as that doesnt exceed the power to wait ratio law). Iv also been told by a few people that the A1 test is not much easier than the A2, they are both taken on 125s etc. But if you want to throw your money away its up to you Confused

Thats including like 4 full days training, bike hire, cbt, test fees etc...
The actual test on its own costs about £60
You may want a few lessons before, but they dont have to be full days, just a few hours if you want.
