Right, I normally travel to work on a wee Aprilia, but as they do... it stopped working.

Bugger! I said. Until I got tipped off that the security guy at work was selling a 'Sym Wolf 125'.

I'll be honest, and say that I have never heard of the thing, and when I found out it was Chinese.... I ran off.

But I ended up buying it for £15. Bearing in mind its a 2001 bike, with plenty of tax and MOT, I though it was a beaut of a deal. Though it needed a new chain, which I sorted out the next day for £20.

Got it home, looked at it, and realised that I couldn't ever ride such a homo looking machine. So me and a mate attacked it with an angle grinder, satin black paint, and a selection of screw drivers.

All trim, mudguards, indicators and such other crud got removed. The back of the frame was cut off, as was half the seat. Everything was sprayed black. Filter removed etc etc.

And after a couple nights of 'American Chopper' style Yee-Harring, and a bin full of low quality Chinese material, I was left with a fine machine.

The best bit.... it's lasted me two months so far, started on the button every morning, uses a decent amount of fuel, gets the front wheel up in 2nd. I couldn't abuse it anymore than I do, but it refuses to miss a beat. For a total of around £25, I'd say its an absalute diamond.

I'll get pictures of 'The Hogg' tomorro Very Happy

I thought the bike cost 15 quid and 20 quid for a chain? doesn't that make 35 quid? not such a cheap bike after all then Laughing I'm just joking, sounds like you can't go wrong for that money.

Ooops, late night addition hehe.

Yeah it was £35 after all Sad damn, may aswell of just got a brand new bike Laughing

The only problem with the bike is.. riding it. It feels so terrible to ride Laughing . The brakes hardly work, and the suspension is absalutely shocking. But hey, who cares about that when you look this good...

It actually sounds pretty meaty too!

A running, legal bike, for 15 squid is bargain of the century Thumbs Up

Lookin good, but to finish it off I would try and find some lower bars to replace those ugly american style ones (some steel pipe of the correct diameter should work), don't bother putting the mirrors back on, and try and scab off a mate one of those pushbike speedo/computer thingies so you can get rid of the ugly clocks.

Yeah I'm searching around work to find some correct dia. straight bar atm. I might drop the headlight down aswell, as it looks a bit high to me.

Remember though, I don't want to spend money on this thing!

Those pushbike speedos cost £5 new, so you should be able to find someone with an old one lying around that they don't want. You'd probably get one from a carboot sale for 50p. I reckon some metal spikes or studs would look good on the back of your seat, perhaps you could find some off an old punk leather jacket. (or a modern trendy belt).

what have you done! Surprised

if you like it thats what matters lol. but as said, you need to make it alot cleaner to look good... get rid off the clocks and the bars. And personally, i'd be tempted to go even smaller on the seat.

Turn your headlight mounts upsidedown to get the light mounted lower... easy free way Smile and for handlebars find an old bmx in a river Thumbs Up

all free! except your replacement bicycle clock anyway. have fun!

thats fucking awesome, £35 for a working road legal bike is radged. If it were me id try and get a different seat unit and make a rat bike special. You can pick up seat units off 125's for very little cash, fit some twin spotlights, get a bike speedo off ebay for like £2 if you can find one. It would look x 10 cool and still not have cost more than £50. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Hey guys. Bad news.... the bike is no longer mine Crying or Very sad . I've passed it on to a fellow Hogg appreciator while he gets his car on the road, so he can get to work.

I'll try and convince him to put some straight bars on there and sort the big homo clocks out.

Might take him to Bassetts Pole this week to get the ideas flowing hehe. (I'll be in the stripped out blue Sierra if anyone's going)
