Hi guys.
While I am waiting to take my CBT test (I decided not to go for the DAS yet) I am thinking of what bike I could get. I have a friend who sells his Honda Shadow 125 and I thought maybe I could buy it. I still don't know in what shape it is, how many owners it has had etc., but there is something else that troubles me.
Are custom bikes OK in terms of driving behaviour? I mean, can you keep your balance as easily as on a touring bike (e.g. Varadero)? Is the pedals position practical? Do you have enough road visibility? (as the seat is lower than in other bikes). I am planning on riding the bike , in order to see for myself, but I would like to know what you think of this kind of bikes. There are many learner-legal bikes that are custom (Marauder, Eliminator, Intruder). Does that mean that they are better for a non-experienced driver?

What I would say, is that its personal opinion that matters the most.. I would go along and ask for a test ride...
People are different, and different things suit different people...

Hi Augi. I've got a marauder which is my first bike. Personaly I find it very comfy even with the peg positions. Mind you I'm only 5ft 5" .
Not sure how comfy a very tall person would be!
I do have to be very careful pulling out of roads when theres lots of parked cars as I can't see over there roofs!!
Love it though..

I cant say about the other bikes cos i havnt riden them, but i have just got a Marauder 125 . After riding 2 stroke racers for the past 8 years i must say its a revelation!!! No more back ache!! So comfy, and at 5ft 10in i find it just the right size. Your not going to get anywhere quickly , but thats not what these bikes are for. Im quite happy pottering about at 50mph. Build quality seems good enough and robust. Just keep it clean! The 4 stroke single engine is smooth as a babys rear and it pulls away from traffic sufficiently enough, with a top speed approx 65mph depending on conditions. I would recommend it Thumbs Up
