I felt quite confident to adjust the chain but it hasn't gone so well.

Ive attached an image showing how it looks.

Fig. 1 - It's the nut and bolt style adjuster.

I loosened the wheel nut (22mm) with the bolt head at the other side (19mm) but only the nut seems to have come away from the swing arm. The bolt head still seems tight against the swingarm. (Fig. 2)

Now when I tighten the adjuster it works but if I loosen it the nut comes away from the swing arm and the cover plate starts to move around. (Fig. 3)

The marks on the swingarm to keep the wheel aligned indicate the right side needs to move forward 2 notches. So the problem is when I start to loosen the nut, the wheel doesnt move and the coverplate comes away from the swing arm. Confused

This all leaves me sad (Fig. 4)

Am I doing something wrong?

Don't panic there is nothing wrong! The bolt won't move away from the swingarm as it is held by friction. to loosen the chain Just tap the tyre with the palm of your hand in the direction you want it to go and it should move. Again the wheel is held in place by friction. The adjusters will move the tyre when you want to tighten the chain. Wink Don't go too tight do a search if you not sure about the tension. Thumbs Up
