Hi,

The bike suddenly went from running ok to having to put on full throttle and limp away from lights, stalling, top speed about 60 in 5th.

The plugs where nasty and black. However these where new about 3/4 months ago so I think it's another problem but don't know what.

Also noticed the plug already in there was DR8EA and the one proper one is DPR9EA-9.

Putting new ones in has sorted the problem but worried this is a symptom of something else.

Cheers

Could be a number of things.
But it is a symptom.
Plugs have different heat ratings. The heat burns off any stuff that sticks to the plug electrodes.
The fouled plug may have been running too cold to self-clean.
If the problems clears then wrong plugs was the problem.

I take it that it's an air cooled 2 valve Ducati then? Injected or carbed?
Sooty plugs is usually an indication of running over rich, having the proper plugs in may cure it, if not a previous owner may have jetted the bike for an open airbox and cans, and put it back to standard when he sold it on.

It's a TRX. Just standard jetting but emulsion tubes might be worn + K&N, Harris exhausts and dodgy exhaust gaskets with no clamps.

I imagined this would make it run lean but the symptoms are that of running too rich Confused . Will leave it for a while and see if the plugs screw up again.

Have you put the correct plugs in?
