Going Spain for 2 weeks at the end of September going into October. Parents have paid for the room but have said if me and my missus are wanting to go we need to get / pay for our flights.

All I know upto know is we will be departing from Manchester (although if some where else works out cheaper to fly from then that aint a problem) and we will be arriving at Reus airport then going on to Costa Dorada (sp) in Salou.

My sister and her boyfriend are going and are paying £469 return flights, which to me seems shockingly high for just flights.

I've been told the sooner you book the flights the cheaper they are so I need to get it booked ASAP.

Anybody find a decent quote / recomend anyone / anything?

Tecky

£145 return with BA from Manchester to Barcelona (which is just up the road/rail from Salou) but that does involves changing at Gatwick/Heathrow. Still, far better than a cheesy charter flight or RyanEasyFlyGo type airline which both have built in guaranteed delay and discomfort. £400 return club (business) class with BA if you want to splash out.

Manchester -> Reus with Iberia (change in Madrid and London) is €740 return.

Have a look on www.travelsupermarket.com.

They do a flight section. Searches all the major tour operators.

Cheapest Manchester to Reus I can find is:

Departing 26 Sept from Manchester, returning on Tuesday 10th October. Reasonable flight times. £141.75.each. with Thomas Cook.

For really nice flight times. First Choice are doing a Manchester for £146.50 each.

?!

I booked flights straight off the BA website a couple of months ago to Malaga for me and my girlfriend. Came to £150 for both flights for both of us. At the time, the BA site was cheaper than chavjet.

Try to get good scheduled flights (e.g. BA), rather than charter ones with chavjet or ryanshite or anything.

Maybe it'd be cheaper if you bought it all as a package from a holiday place? My holiday is about £420 for 2 weeks, flights included (and first class) including accommodation at a 5* hotel to Egypt. I'd have thought Spain would be pretty cheap considering it's not as far away and loads of people go there.
Tried EasyJet or Ryan Air? I've heard they are pretty cheap.

That's excellent. Cheapest first class direct scheduled flights from London to Cairo that I can find is £1898 with BA (business class is cheaper at £1313). Who are you flying with?

We're with First Choice, and the operator is Cosmos (I think). They quoted us much more to begin with, but the shop is opposite a Thomas Cook so we just went back and forth til they knocked it right down. It's Bed and Breakfast, but food in Egypt is £2 per person, per meal. I've done my homework Wink
Seems to be pretty good, we get better food, more legroom....*sigh*

Ah. I don't think First Choice / Cosmos do what I understand by first class (flat bed, masseuse on board, food served on proper china, etc.).

But Egypt is great anyway, and yes the food is really cheap.

I've found that for my europe hops I get a good deal through expedia on a BA flight.
Generally the pricing is to competitive on all the europe stuff that BA, easyjet, ryanair, and the tour operators, will all be fairly close. However if you go with thompsonfly you need have your legs removed.

For longer flights its often a good idea to go direct to the airline - I haven't been able to find better prices than virgin, continental, delta, or northwest anywhere.

also www.cheapflights.com

I spend a lot of time looking for cheap flights.

Charter are put on especially for holiday makers in the Summer and are always delayed and the most unreliable things ever, because they're not built into the permanant airport schedule.

Scheduled flights operate on exactly the same day at exactly the same time every day of the year, so because they operate every day, they're much, much less likely to be delayed.
