When I ride my bike, it feels as if it is restricted at about 190kph. I still have 1500 rpm before redline in fifth gear, so it's definately not over-revving. Does anyone have some ideas on where the restrictor lies, and/or how to remove it?

Get a motrax kmh to mph converter, as your restriction is controlled by the speedo. Once converted to mph your restriction would kick in at 180mph which is'nt going to be an issue. Thumbs Up

You should be able to fuck around with the wiring at the back of the speedo and remove it yourself.

https://400greybike.co.uk/

that forum wil tell you pritty much everything u need to know about the cbr400..

jap bikes have a speed restriction at 180kph which is 112mph the bike is restricted by a sensor in the speedo unit itself. to get rid of this u have 3 options....

do as gsxrmick said an get a kph/mph converter (although i didnt go for this option as it will mess up the milage of the bike)

or buy m-max style box (they sell them at 400greybike.co.uk) which is basically a resistor inline with the sensor that stops the cdi ever getting the signal to cut the engine..(or one of the coils) this is what went for as it keeps milage the same an can be removed easly.

or open the speedo urself an take out the sensor that controls the speed sensor, (this option is the cheepest but can end up in a broken speedo if your not carfull with all the little bits an bobs in the speedo..)

u cannot just unplug the sensor as the cdi needs a current from the sensor or the bike wil go into "im a cunt mode" as i like to call it wer it will only rev to 5k..
