where can i get aluminum/steel stock?

something i've been considering building and i would like to know how much stock is and the cost...

probably looking at a 5 x 5 x 8 inch block of steel / ali.

i cant make it yet, i'll be doing it as a side project at uni. but just wondering what the costs will be before i do it Wink

Try https://www.metalsupermarkets.com/. Have bought from them before, and you just pay for the exact length you need. All cut to size for you. Very Happy

Another vote for metalsupermarkets.com, very good service. Thumbs Up

Alternatively if you want something local check the yellow pages under "Engineers' Merchants & Supplies" or ask any local engineering place where they get their metal stock from.
