PostPosted: 11:54 - 29 May 2006    Post subject: Top speed runs Reply with quote

Hi

This weekend I went playing silly B's doing top speed runs at Woodbridge, organised by https://www.200mph.net .

I took along the Bandit, the Bimota and the little RS125.

Saturday was a bit of a wash out. Managed one run on the Bandit before the heavens opened and the track got too wet, and I was not that commited on that run. Managed 163.6mph.

Sunday was far better. The wind was tending to blow from the side at one point on the runway, which we could have done without, but it stayed dry. Not much sun, but I still got sunburnt.

First run I managed 166.3mph (previous best for the Bandit was 166.2mph). I then grabbed the RS125 and took that down, after gasing the place out with 2 stroke smoke trying to get it warm. Managed 94.5mph, but I backed off just before the timing lights as it felt like it was about to nip up (and it is a long walk back). It was indicating about 110mph at the time and had been a touch higher. Lastly took the Bimota out in the morning. First run was 162.3 followed by 167.3. Then took the mirrors off and managed 171. One more run after lunch only gave 164.5 and then I went back to the Bandit with runs of 167.1, 165.3 and 163.6. My target for the weekend was 170 on the Bandit but I didn't quite manage that, but hanging on at 167.1 was hard enough.

Fastest run of the day was a Dutch guy on a seriously played with 'busa. He managed 240.3mph.

Full results - https://www.200-mph.net/research/jd7_results.htm .

All the best

Keith

Hi

240mph is pretty insane. He just kept turning the boost up for successive runs.

Does take a bit of hanging on to a naked bike at that speed. Stress on your neck is far worse though. Far easier to do those speeds on the Bimota.

All the best

Keith

Made me laugh that taking the mirrors off went that much quicker!

The 170 bandit style will come, fear not.

Was Mr C there? How's he doing?

Can't imagine 170 on a naked bike, 150 was bad enough on the back of ZX6R (but that was on a motorway Shocked )

If a tuned 'Busa is getting 240+mph, imagine what the ZZR1400 is going to do when a few nutters have got hold of them!

Hi

Pics from the weekend are uploaded here:-

https://www.traxpics.co.uk/HIDE-20060527-JD7/

It will be interesting to see what the ZZR1400 does, and also what the rumoured 'busa replacement manages.

Mr C was there but not riding.

The speedo is miles off at those speeds. On the Bimota at 171 the speedo was showing over 185mph. The Bandit speedo markings end at 170mph but the needle went to around where the 185mph mark would be (and both of these are cable speedos, so not affected by the gearing).

All the best

Keith

Nice pics, Keith.

You have tempted all of us for long enough with your stable of fine exotic machinery.

It's about time we had some decent pics of your brolly dolly.

After all everyone knows what a bandit looks like.

Come on let's see your other exotic 'ride'.

Mrs Kickstart (Charlotte) runs away whenever anyone points a camera at her.

So do I, but I wasn't quick enough running in those pics Wink .

All the best

Hi,

Well it is quite hard to only get the pics when they are between the bushes as they are all along the runway. The bikes are trying to go fast. Crying or Very sad .

Next time I am taking an axe to the bushes, it either that or sell photos like that as modern art.

Regards
C
