Hi all,
Does anybody know much about the wiring on a 1991 af1 125 futura.
About a week ago some little spotty faced scumbag tried to half hinch my bike and trashed the wiring on teh back of the ignition in the process!! Evil or Very Mad
I am now left with an ignition switch that has 7 terminals on and four different coloured wires with spade connectors that i haven't a foggyest were they go??!!??

I would very much appreciate any advice people have.
Razz

Cheers
Mark.

Hi

Not the most readable format, and in Italian, but here is the Futura owners handbook complete with wiring diagram.

https://www.alfa-pages.co.uk/Aprilia/AF1FuturaOwnersHandbook/FuturaMan.htm

All the best

Keith

Hi Kickstart,
I was hoping that you would reply, you seem to know your stuff about the af1's.
I have looked at the diagram but still don't have the foggyest what goes where. It tells me the four colours of the wires that i have, but not sure which terminals they should go on on the switch??!!??
Also after looking beneath the seat it seams that the two fuses have been blown and have partially melted too!!

Could this have been caused by the 'hot wiring' too??

Cheers

Mark.

Hi

Trouble is that the wiring is really part of the switch. Very likely that the blown fuses are from someone trying to hotwire it.

What you are best off doing (if you have any chance of reconnecting the wires) is to work out which of the wires are paired. Use a multimeter and work out which pair are connected when you switch on the ignition and which are disconnected. From that and from the wiring diagram you can work out which pair of wires go to which pair of contacts on the switch.

All the best

Keith

Hi

You can do damage, but to be honest the AF1 electrics are fairly simple.

If the wires are chopped off flush with the bottom of the ignition switch then you will struggle. Might well just be worth buying a new switch.

All the best
