My tyres are on the limit, getting changed as part of the service on the weekend. At last!
I think if I've worn a flat spot in the middle - from pootling around in winter only really leaning in on roundabouts (right handers), would this cause the bike to handle noticeably strangely on left handers?
The tyres are on the wear limit in the middle but have the tread like a monster truck on the outsides.
I have been sticking to the same familiar sinlge lane roads until now but went out last night and thought I'd push myself onto some faster long dual carraigeway bends.
After a couple of laps I could go at a reasonable speed so the bike felt like it was leant over and gripping as it should at the right revs.
Still on left handers I would lean over and the bike wouldn't settle but wobble and weave especially on the way out of the corner. I'm hoping to blame the tyres and not myself for this. Could it be the out of shape tyre?
My ZXR doesn't like bumps at all but this is on a reasonably smooth road.
Also, when I do get the tyres changed, how do I go about wearing them in properly?

if you mean wobbly handlebars (makes the bike try to sit up then lay back down repeatedly- gets more rapid wth more speed) then chances are its a combination of the flat spot in the rear tyre and a unevenly/badly warn front tyre. Check headbearings and forks just to be sure though, wouldnt fancy riding much with nackered headbearings/forks. Hope this helps.

Sounds like the tyres to me, you should notice an immediate difference with the new ones on, as for wearing them in just take care for the first few miles, especially the first couple of corners, it'll feel like its on ice.
I had knackered head bearings recently, you couldn't feel it at speed but when going slow it felt like it was wandering and falling into corners.

I am looking forward to getting the bike back serviced with a new set of tyres. I'll have a lot more confidence knowing everything is sound and checked.
As well as the tyres, it's probably me doing too much practice cornering roundabouts and not enough left handers. Will have to find a quiet roundabout and do a few fast laps the wrong way to wear in the new ones!
