Gear Lever - Desperate

I need a new gear lever today for a GS500, are they standard on most bikes or are they all completely different? The teeth on it are badly worn and I've just snapped the bloody head off the bolt that holds it on. Going to Wales tommorow and need to give the gf a lift back to Bradford tonight. Any ideas where I might get one in Manchester?

Not specific to all bikes, but may be similar to some others.

If you can find a local breakers, they should let you have a look through their boxes of bits so you can find one that's close.

where in manchester?

ESB is open Sundays and mechanics are usually on (Bolton)and they usually have parts in stock

Speedy/regents/buryMC centre/Warricks are closed

as are ALL the breakers around here,

if you are desparate go to a biking school and ask them if they have a cannibalised bike for spare parts , the school I was at had a knackered GS500E which was butchered for parts (ACErider).

Just been to 3 breakers, none open. Ringing round everywhere I can find now. If I can't get one I'll try getting the snapped bolt out and put a new one in, no idea how I'll do that though yet. Was just going to cut it off and replace the lever. Why does my bike always go wrong on Sundays and when I need it :s

Might try something along those lines Itchy. Just try and get the one on there now to stay still. Bit worried it'll wear the teeth on the bike side down instead of just the gear lever. I guess if I just don't change gear much it'll be ok. Going to Wales for 10 days tomorrow though, shame to not use the bike much while we're there.

if you are leaving tommorow why not get it fixed before you go? ,

since everybody will be open then and you can source the parts of put it in a workshop to get it fixed , I'd rather get it fixed that risk it (says me who rode a bike which had a tendancy to catch fire 2000 miles).
