I've been looking at McAfee and F-Secure.

I think I'm going to have to stick to one of the main players to get approval to do it.

As long as you update the software the problem will be dealt with. No need for a knee jerk reaction because face it, they discover flaws in your operating system every day that could allow users to gain access and your not rushing out to change your OS!

Symantec is a big player so I can;t see a little antivirus companies software being any more secure TBH.

The problem with symantec is the amount of updates we need to perform to the program.

The versions we've been through is crazy.

I called recently about a problem 1 user was having.

I've been told it's a know problem and to resolve it I need to uninstall SSC and install the new version, followed by our primary server, then the secondary servers then our 800 odd users.

They talk about it like it's a 5 minute job! It's not just the installs and the downtime, but the amount of testing we need to do before we can roll out something like this that causes the issues.

Trying to call Symantec now, as there is still no mention of this or the patches for it on their site and I need to check we are OK before I sod off for the weekend!

I'm calling to find out more about the security flaw that's been found in SCS

What flaw?

AVG Free is fine. Norton uses WAY too much resources and will slow your computer down like fuck if its not high(ish) spec

ever considered using Sophos? awsome bit of kit. use it here at work on over 500 computers and they all update off of 1 of our central servers. the server in turn updates every hour from Sophos HQ.

Cheers for the advice peeps. We run Sophos on a few servers already so we may try and expand that more.

Will have to wait and see what happens!
