Preparing carbon fibre for painting

Any particular way carbon should be prepped? What kind of sand paper/technique gives the best results and is there any preferred paint type want to renovate my battered old hugger

I would assume that its prepared in exactly the same way as fibreglass. The shiny coating you see on carbon fibre is just a clear resin finish. I've been meaning to paint my hugger for a while. I was going to mask some of it off, then spray & remove the masking so that you still see the carbon fibre weave.
If you are going to be cutting the c/f in anyway beware. you get tiny little splinters and the hurt like buggery when they're stuck in you..
