Hi,

Brought an NSR a few weeks back from some guy on ebay from up north - He gave the bike and the v5 document to the delivery guy who then later delivered it to me.

The bike is fine and the v5 seems legit but he is now not responding to any calls, emails or letters in regards to signing his part of the v5 document so i can get it in my name.

Can anyone recommend what I should do?

Thanks,

Just forge his signature and send it off. I do it all the time. Do you have a receipt for the bike?

You could always phone the DVLA and tell them

No doubt he will get a letter/call/visit from them.

Like bully says, just stick a scribble in the box he's supposed to sign.

as long as you have the green bit you can just send off to dvla for a new one at no cost(without the green bit it costs £19)

All you do is send off your half of the doc. The dvla will write to the previous owner to inform him/her that someone is trying to re register the bike. They will then have the option to either let the transfer take place or state that they are still the rightfull owners.

You could always borrow someone elses bike, put the number plate on it, and then razz through every sodding speed cam you can find! That'd get the twat to sign up since legally its still his bike and would be liable for the bullshit that comes with denying all the speeding tickets

if you get really stuck, fill out a V62 from the DVLA.

https://www.dvla.gov.uk/forms/pdf/V62online.pdf

it's normally £19 for a V62, but that fee is waived if:

If you are the new keeper and the previous keeper has failed to notify DVLA of the change. You must be in possession of the
New Keeper Supplement from the Registration Certificate and
send it to DVLA with this application form,

I wouldn't bother signing it as its the previous owners responsibility by law now to send his part off. Therefore the bike if caught in any crime will be the pervious owners responsibility.

Just send your bit off and forget about the rest....Not worth worrying about. Wink
