Hi, I have my eye on the following

Yamaha XVS 125 Dragstar
2000 'X' Reg
28800 miles
some rust but the seller is spending the next 3 weeks briniging it up to standard.

He's looking for around a grand (once the work is done). I am a complete newbie and would really appreciate some honest advice. For one thing, is that a massive mileage for a bike? Should I expect problems soon?

Failing that, a local dealership has a Virago 125, 04 plate, nice nick for £1395. I like it, but prefer the Dragstar. Also, the money I would save would come in handy for some gear, and I have a couple of 'machanic type' mates!

Why spend a grand on an X Reg bike that has cosmetic problems and fairly high miles for a 125!
When for an extra 300 quid you can get a 2 year old bike that won't need an MOT till atleast next March?

Personally I'd go for the Virago, but thats just me, also this should be in General not here.

Dont spend a grand on any 125, go do your test and get a cheap ZXR or something, ten times more fun and the test will improve your riding no-end!
