Remember it? Wicked looking mountain bike with an engine. They are £750-£1000 brand new now...

Couldn't believe that, dirt cheap.

I was disappointed not to seem them on display on the Sachs stand at the MCN show. Although, probably expected. Think they would have got a bit of interest. I would have had a sit on one. I think they are very quirky. Very Happy

I wish they had done a 125, too. I would have one if the price was right. You never see them second hand, though... Thinking

4-stroke 50cc? I bet it doesn't go more than about 30. Good for round town though i suppose.

It's certainly an innovative design; the fuel tank is the frame. I saw them new at a Kymco dealership, but I reckon they're pretty useless as something to go any distance (say over 10 miles). I reckon it'd be bitch uncomfortable and the fuel tank might be quite small.

Sachs are an absolute bitch for parts as well; there's only one place that imports them in the UK.

Spot on! I'll eat my helmet if that isn't a royal enfield engine. How is the 500 bullet to ride? Nearly bought one, but had second thoughts about it's ability to handle motorways. The bullet 350 has got the sweetest voice of any bike ever imho.

Wotcha.

To put it bluntly - if you use motorways frequently, don't buy a Bullet, they just ain't up to it. I must admit, I love mine, but for long distance motorway work the Kwak or trike gets used.

Funnily enough, I've just put a 500 Bullet engine back together this afternoon - new main bearings ( the original Indian ones failed 18 months ago ) frame powder coated, in fact, a general rebuild. I threw a wire to the coil, put the tank on, still with the petrol from 18 months ago, wound the engine onto compression, eased it over and swung on the kick start. Bloody Hell Shocked it started FIRST KICK. Colour me surprised, as they say Laughing It's little things like that, that make it all worthwhile - I'm still grinning like an idiot.

For more Bullet horror stories, give THIS a click.

For what it's worth, I love the sound of four stroke singles.

Talking of trikes, could you recommend a good company to build a car engine based trike? My girlfriend's got a VW lupo, which she is planning to dispose off in a couple of years. I've been toying with the idea of using the engine for a trike.

Wotcha.

Sadly, no, not really. I tend to build my own, or get half finished projects that people have given up on.
I dare say there's quite a few places out there, but I'm afraid I don't know to any.

Just to stick my nose in, that isn't the new Bullet engine, its the old Bullet engine. They did it just for show as although it looks nice, I dont think 24BHP is going to set anything alight.

It would be very different hearing the thump of the RE engine instead of the scream you would normally expect from such an bike. Eventhough it hasn't got much power, it's got loads of torque. A high torque engine with not too much power would be ideal for a semi-offroader.

That 500 would be ace if it was jacked up, and given a decent engine. Would make an awesome alternative to mainstream supermoto bikes.

Jack

EDIT: has anyone checked out the voxans on the sachs page? they look pretty tasty...

I had a Madass, still do actuall, need to sell it badly, any one interested, not in great nick, needs a little bit of tlc. There seems to be some problems witht the electrics it starts first kick and has had the baffles taken out the exhaust. (i did have a pit bike engine in it 110cc, quite fun then) Im not looking for a lot, only take a weekend of tinkering to get right but I have no time. Perfect for the summer...

Anyone interested? Offers...
