Advice on finance.

Well kinda of self explanatory really..

Basically i have started a new job and my civic is actually drinking the petrol, im paying like 250 a month for petrol! So i need a 1.2 thats not a shed.

So Any advice and stories and stuff experiences with fianance. need as much as possible as I dont know much about it.

APR rates
Is it better to whack down a big deposit.
Can I haggle with the finance and price of the car.
etc etc

If you are using the car for a longish commute ( and at £240 a month in gas, I would guess it is) I would get a cheap,used diesel hatchback.

I did this 3 years ago and gave £2K for a 106 1.5d on 83K - its still with me now and has covered a quite impressive 162,000 total miles now.

I would estimate that the car is now worth little more than £4-500 now, but imagine, had I bought a brand new car and nailed that sort of mileage on it, what depreciation it would have encountered.. Add on to that, by working on it myself, ive saved a packet over garage labour costs and no one part to fix it has cost much more than about £50-£60+vat

Good luck in your search, and yes you can haggle on finance. The dealer will have a commision from the finance brokers, and they will be able to lose a little of that your way Id imagine. Obviously thoug, the bigger the deposit, the less you have to pay off overall, and Shop about on the net for loans and then go into the dealership with cash buying power (which still seems to mean something to the motortrade)
