hello! It's my first post here ( hello all ).

I was just wondering if anyone knew anything about the 1995 yamaha sr125, specific faults that occur on that years model/ that model in general.

I am thinking about buying one from a dealership, but the low price ( £695 ) is making me think 'so whats wrong with it....?'.

I'm currently stuck on a zip50, so the transition to gears should be fun, and no being laughed at everytime i round a corner will be a nice change!!.

They are a solid, reasonably reliable learner bike. They used to be used a lot in riding schools so you can imaging the abuse they will tolerate.

Not the worlds fastest, just a basic, functional motorcycle in a very mild factory custom style.

£695 doesn't sound unreasonably low, to be honest, depending on mileage. Have a look on biketrader for comparison; I wouldn't expect a pristine example, but apart from that it seems about average.

cheers for your replys,

I decided on a younger, cheeper Honda CA rebel 125 (1997) custom with 7000 miles on the clock ( wow?). Good story from the seller, the lady owner bought the bike, then became pregnant and let it sit for a few years at the back of a garage........... Battery was fooked and the balancing pipe between the two exhausts was rusted through, but any work including an M.O.T was included in the price (£600).

I'm picking it up this friday, not to sure how to drive it the 20 miles home as i have never used gears before, but i've decided to throw myself in at the deep end.

see you out there!!

They seem to be very popular bikes in America although I have only seen 1 or 2 here. I have a SR250 SE Special which I got for £50 - there isn't much wrong, just a few missing bits such as lights etc. The problem with mine is that it is imported and was only built for a few years and so finding bits and info about it isn't proving to be too easy. I don't know if you will have the same problem.
