 |
|
(I will accept offers to take the main parts of the bike which if I receive enough interest can be broken/split)
Yamaha FZR400 1WG 3EN1 (E Reg / 1988) £950ono
I bought this bike 2 years ago & have spent weeks and weeks over the past 2 years working on it to make it good but since gettting it to a condition I'm happy with (approx 4 months ago) I've only had time to put maybe 500 miles in total plus 3 trackdays on it BUT now I need a new challenge so it has to go to make room for my next project. Everything thats needed doing to it has been done incl reshimming the valves but I prefer not to fully add up what I've spent bringing this bike back up to std as I know its well over what its worth but I'll hazzard a guess its probably at least £800 and probably £1000 (on top of the original purchase price...don't tell the Mrs ) and have most of the bills caerfully to hidden away from her as they're incriminating evidence.
New Parts List
These parts are were new (& are still like new) and have done somewhere between 100-500m in the 2 years since I started the project. The stripdown and rebuild excluded the engine bottom end end which was and still is in sound condition.
Chain & Sprockets
Light tint screen
Front Pads
Front S/S Braided Hoses
Oil, Air & Fuel Filters + Spark Plugs
Pilot Screws (dont ask)
EBC Clutch plates & springs done 100 miles.
Battery + renthal grips
Both Exup cables, both throttle cables + clutch cable
Double Hard Footpegs
3TJ Carbon can which sounds raspier and is slightly more free flowing than the std Exup can but is road legal (not new but better than oval exup can)
BT090 (110/60/17 & 150/60/18) about half worn
Most of the bearings (incl rear linkage) have been replaced
Rear light
Crashbungs (only cheap ones but every little helps)
New gaskets as appropriate incl head gasket, rocker gasket and inlet rubbers
Rear indicators (not new but off a RR or RRSP simply because they look better)
Oem Bolts & fastners used on critical parts (ie brake caliper mounting bolts / suspension linkages) while 90% of the rest of the nuts & bolts on the bike have been replaced with rustproof stainless steel items (allen heads)
Techno-Flex rear shock (see pic10 above) with both Hi & Lo speed compression damping (on remote resevoir with about 25 clicks of adjustment) & rebound (50'ish clicks of adjustment)
......plus loads more stuff I forgot for now but may edit in later
The Engine Casings (3 peices), Top yoke, Exhaust hanger, head cover and rear subframe have been resprayed with Hammerite Satin black which looks good and isn't far off the finish of modern black frame bikes/powder coating. The downpipes while std are 100% solid and have been resprayed with proper exhaust (heat proof) matt black spray. I bought the complete panel set off ebay about 6 months ago (to replace the dull black/silver panels). The paint work is well done and has a clear laquer coat over the stickers but one panel has a hairline cracks (repaired...see below). The forks while standard, have one grade thicker fork oil in them which makes them slightly firmer, have no leaks (new seals) and no pitting or rust on the stanchions.
Comes with its V5 (in my name), receipts (mainly from fowlers), MOT & TAX valid till Feb 2007
Bits I should & will mention from the off
The fairing has a few stone chips and a slight hairline crack showing (if you look closely) on the outside of the RH lower fairing but otherwise is in good overall condition. I've repaired a few broken lugs and this hairline crack (from the inside of the panel) with a Plastec plastic repair kit (not crappy fibrelgass) and the result is as strong as the original parts (its good stuff). I haven't got around to giving the wheels a respray or powder coating so they are still wearing their original paint and looking a bit tired close up (as you'd expect for the age), but otherwise they're in good nick and run true and would look great resprayed in white.

and to prove the bikes a runner and handles well, here's some footage of it in action at a recent trackday at Rockingham (May 14th). This is its 3rd trackday. Ignore the left handers as I can't do left handers (some sort of mental block i have) and concentrate on how it pishes over more modern machinery into and through the right handers. Dispite me doing a few trakdays on it, it hasn't been tuned or been taken to the redline (I tend to change up by 14K rpm). The engine as I think you can tell from the video runs well and has NO strange noises. The exup valve is in place and working well.
5 Laps (29mb wmv Med-Quality)
1 flying Lap (14mb wmv Hi-Quality)
If interested in the complete bike (+ the old exup can, the complete but dull & damaged old panels, extra screen & forks) or making an offer on one or more parts then please reply here, call me on 07977 548951 or email me moi AT hotmail.co.uk. Im located near Leeds if you wish to come and have a look.
Thanks for looking and hopefully saving me some ebay fee's |
