I never had a space hopper. This put me at a considerable disadvantage in the annual school sports day space hopper race, as my technique was poor in comparison to my hopper-owning classmates.

Wasn't allowed a BMX. No, I had to make do with a Raleigh Shopper that weighed about a ton and had a huge metal basket on the front.

Nope. Sad

What deprivation did you suffer as a kid? And have you got over it yet?

Apparently I had my little ponies to play with for about 6 months after my birth as my mum thought I was going to be a girl.

Still can't look at horses without shedding a tear.

I had an orange 5 speed Halfords racer when my mates had BMX's, but I wanted one. Shocked I also wanted ET to die though.

I had an inhereted Space Hopper.

I wanted an Electric organ, but didn't get one.

I wanted an Electric Guitar, but got an acoustic.

I did get one of these though. Thumbs Up

Even if I knew the names of the ones I had, there's not a chance in hell I'd be naming them Razz

They tasted nice though from what I can remember (I tried eating them when I got older, I probably still have them, my mum didn't get rid of them when she bought me other toys Sad )

Right. I had to get up in the morning at ten o'clock at night half an hour before I went to bed, drink a cup of sulphuric acid, work twenty-nine hours a day down mill, and pay mill owner for permission to come to work, and when we got home, our Dad and our mother would kill us and dance about on our graves singing Hallelujah.

You forgot the 25 mile hike across snow-covered fields in your bare feet, carrying a hot stone to keep your hands warm. Which you then had to eat for lunch when you got t'mill.

To get back on topic....

I always wanted a Mr Frosty and a Lego pirate ship. Never got either when I was little. However, the Lego pirate ship was re-released about a year ago so I got one when they came out! It's exactly the same as the one I wanted when I was little Smile Mr Frosty isn't in my "wanted" list any more tho.

Hardly a deprivation but surely an offence under the Trade Descriptions Act – After 30 seconds of running about with it you got bored out of your tiny mind and got a jam jar out to catch bees with so there’s no way that it can be given the description ‘hobby’ AND only about 5% of it bears any resemblance to a 'horse' - In short a fockin' disgrace.

I never had many toys, didn't need them on account of having a bigger brother to mess around with. We were never in the house and as long as we didn't get caught doing what ever we were doing my folks didn't mind: even when we came home with burt fingers and smelling of fire my folks didn't say a word!.

Only drawback was that everything I did have was a hand-me-down.

I still look back and wish I'd been given some Lego or Teknix, I'm sure I wouldn't be so DIY inept as i am if I had.

A common misconception. This sketch was not actually originally a Monty Python one - when it was very first done Tim Brooke-Taylor was in it, I think it was called the 1948 Show or something?

It's an easy mistake to make, due to my youth! I only remember seeing the re-sketch from Python. Whistle Wink

<---- Had a Mr Frosty and lovely it was too Very Happy

I never got to have a Scalextric, or Meccano, or anything fun like sports stuff. I will one day get both of the first two items however, I have had some sporty sort of stuffs as an adult which has been lovely! The Aston Villa coloured birthday cake (damn that tasted good, mmmmmm) and lunch box (complete with Thermos no less!) and the pitching in to get me a Warwickshire CCC season ticket being three of the spankiest Very Happy

Laughing Yeh, f**king right, youth... Laughing

I wasn't really deprived of much as i child...although, whenever i used to be in my Superman suit (don't ask) and i was bad, i was ALWAYS chucked into a freezing cold shower as punishment.

Soon taught me to listen to my parents orders though. Laughing

I got my first Etch a-Sketch when I was 22.
I still take it on camping trips.

I had a lite-brite.
Now that I think about it, that toy was pretty scary. Just think about the picture of the clown sitting in you room at night in place of your night light.
Now that looks possessed.
