Hi iv just bought myself a cheap triple s chain at the bmf! and when i phoned a bike shop to get some new sprockets the guy told me to never use the triple s chain becouse they are crap and will steatch and snap in no time at all.

i was just wondering if anyone else has had one of thease chains before as i dont fancy loosing my leg or my engine. Thumbs Up

i`ve fitted 3 triple s chains on bikes i`ve owned and had no problems with any of them. as long as they are the correct type for your bike you should be ok. they were used by mckenzie and whitham on the boost yzf`s in bsb so i had no doubts about using them.

I've used a couple of em. They're not great but they're not bad. There are definitely better chains out there. But I've certainly not had one snap under normal use. Did have one snap when I had a fairly bad accident though. Split link gave, but the same force also broke the frame.

So if you need a chain that's stronger than your frame, then don't get a triple S.

There are no bad chain manufacturers but there are cheap chains made down to a price. The DID's I fit to my big bikes cost in the region of £80-£115 trade do abut £120-£170 retail. Would you pay this for a chain?

Are those a special type of DID?

Don't think the last 525 O-ring one I had cost more than 60ish.

532 x ring super heavy duty. The best they make that most places don't even sell as they are so expensive.

I've tried several chains and I think a triple S will be fine. Maintain it well and it will last thousands upon thousands of miles. Try to get it riveted rather than using a split link.

If you are putting big forces on a chain, then I'd reccomend getting a hevy duty version. hard acceleration, wheelies etc etc.

My DID gold heavy duty X-ring chain on the thunderace has been excellent and does,nt seem to strech as much as chains on other bikes l,ve had but it was bloody expensive.

I use SSS heavy duty plain jane on my 1100. With a split link.

Ive noticed the split link of this large HD chain is pretty chunky and the clip is quite a bastard to get on, not had any issues with it trying to escape but to calm my paranoia I found a little araldite stops the clip going walkies.
