well my dad took me onto the local RAF base, took me up to the empty car park there, and let me pratice.
gears were a lot easier to handle than i thought they would be, i only stalled it twice and then once more after i stopped. I managed to get it to 40 and that felt amazing, the bike handles so well, its just incredible i love it
im not so good at judging when to gear though, sometimes i change up as i reach 4000 revs which isnt very good as i found out, i think 7000 is better? also i cannot find nuetral after i have stopped, i only ever find it when im trying to get between 1st and 2nd
but seriously that was amazing i am now praying it passes its mot on monday
my mum took a couple of pictures on her phone, but i cant get them onto the pc yet, so i'll try get some of it soon |

You cant realy tell how a bike can handle at 40mph. As the handling changes completely at about 60/70.
Whats the NSR redline? around 11k?
I'd say change gear around 2k before redline, if its got a standard can id say thats peak power/torque.
You will feel a powerband, a set of revs where the bike goes faster, try and keep the revs in this powerband and you will be well away |

just back from being out again, im getting better at the gears, but its a bit hard to pratice in such a small area, tomorrow im taking it to the mot so i get to test it on proper roads.
im pulling away fine and i can ride about at 30 very easily, im just not very good at the downshifting, i keep forgetting to get the revs up so when i do the engine screams, or i will kick down to many gears (normally 3rd to 1st) and the bike really does not like that, so im good at going up just not down
have to say gears are a lot easier than i was expecting. |

yeh ive been finding that, yesterday i was getting gears wrong over and over and over, today i didnt do to bad, did stall it once, i decided to test the emergency stop, i did it well i think, and i thought yeh cool, then dropped down to first put on the revs a little but just dropped the clutch completely and stalled ^^
ive been over the bike and cannot spot anything that it could fail its mot on, so with any luck (and assuming my insurance details get here) i'll be on the roads tomorrow |

Just like eddthompson said, if you select the wrong gear, dont panic and start stabbing at the gear lever, just pop it in to the next gear up / down . Worst thing you can do is start worrying you will do it. Cos then you will. Just try to stay calm, dont worry, and take your time untill you are more confident. Oh, and dont concentrate too much on your bike. Dont look down to gear lever or clutch or whatever. well i passed the mot
sadly my insurance details arent here yet so im not taxed, so im just waiting for that. (seriously what difference is my £15 gonna make?)
im getting better at the gearing now, i still keep going to neutral rather than 2nd, but i think i will stop doing that, and that is good advice to just return to the gear i wanted to be in, i seem to just try and slow down/speed up to the speed that gear wants to be in, then get to the gear i wanted (if that makes any sense)
i managed to overtake someone today which made me grin |
