I have found out that certain people in my family have been reading my bussiness emails wich has nothing to do with them.

I want to do: every time i click on outlook it asks me for a password to enter etc.

Any help.

Also while i am here, every time i turn the computer on i need to click on my user name, i never had to do this until now, pisses me off.

Right, assuming you're running windows XP...

Click control panel, user accounts, change the way users log on and off, untick both options.

that'll log you straight in if you only have one windows account and it isn't passworded (if i remember correctly, may be untick all... :S)

For passwording outlook i'm not sure how you'd do it... personally i'd have one seperate user account for each user of the machine and password yours... only give youself admin rights... (well that's a lie, personally i'd be my computer and anyone else can fuck off Razz ).

Fraid i'm on office 2007 beta so the options i have available will be different anyway so i can't help.

ill assume your using outlook and not outlook express.

click on TOOLS --> EMAIL ACCOUNTS and select VIEW OR CHANGE EXISTING EMAIL ACCOUNTS then click NEXT. Highlight your account and click on CHANGE then utick the REMEMBER PASSWORD box and you'll be promted for your password each time you send/receive mail.

EDIT - just thought to myself that this isnt what you want as your emails are still going to be visible to others they just wont be able to send or receive new ones.

cant think of a way to password it from startup.

Create an outlook data file (.pst) This will appear down at the bottom under personal folders.
You can set a password for access to the personal folders (you will be prompted for the password on starting outlook).
Then do as above to password protect send and receive.
Once you have read your emails move them to the .pst file.
I think there is a way to move read items automatically

Alternatively, buy yourself a decent USB pen drive, and install a copy of PortableThunderbird on it.

This way you wont leave your emails behind on the PC for people to read, and you'll always have them with you if you need them, no matter who's PC you're using.

Thumbs Up
