parafin - where to get it?

I remember a thread about chain cleaning but i cant find it - and someone mentioned where they had found somewhere selling parafin - can someone telll me?

I bought mine at Robert Dyas - I think it was £6.99 for 4 litres.

I'd imagine B&Q and Homebase do it as well.

Tesco sell it at the garage forecourt. It is usually with the BBQ charcoal.

I get mine from a place that sell swimming pools and gas. Only a couple of quid for four litres. I tried B&Q but was told by an assistant that they didnt stock it Confused

I'm using it. It's more expensive, but it's much easier to get hold of too, and they're effectively the same. I imagine white spirit is purer?

Paraffin is oil based and is good for cleaning machinery because it will not dry out your bearings etc like white spirit will.

The search function works great for these sorts of things - but only when you spell paraffin correctly Smile

Anyway, I bought mine (4L bottle) from a Tesco garage forecourt.

any spelling mistakes of mine in this post are down to the spell checker

B&Q do, just it's called 'Parasene' and sold as a green house heater fuel.
