Another interesting topic... Very Happy

Anyone here eaten Wood pigeon?

Was does it taste like?

More importantly, have you capped one, prepared it and eaten it?

Can you just pop them off and eat them, or is there a risk of a million diseases like there is with the feral, puke and condom eating variety we are so fond of?

What can be used to trap them? Barley? Corn?

That is TRAP not shoot. No air rifle, you see. Could you cap one with a Gat gun, close up?

Its legal to kill them as they are classed as a UK pest, but they are really just flying rats (would you eat a rat?).

You would need an air rifle/shotgun/.22 rifle to kill them as anything less powerful would not kill it in one shot which is cruel if it gets away wounded.

i have capped one, prepped and eaten it, it was nice, you need a couple of them to make a decent meal though, i doubt a gat gun would do the job, you need to hit them in the head as the chest is very strong and there is a big grain sack at the front, i had a .22 air rifle, as for prepping you may as well take the breast meat out and throw the rest as theres not much more to 'em!

I shot 3 yesterday, plucked the breast and cut the meat off and they are in the fridge waiting to go on the BBQ.
Had 3 rabbits aswell for kebabs but I gave them to my neighbour for roasting instead.

A month ago another tried to do the same thing at more or less the same spot but i was quicker on the brakes this time so missed it.
