ok i am looking 2 take my full licence (the resticted 33bhp one) as soon as i sell my other bike but i whant 2 use my full power nsr 125.
now will they let me use my deresticted nsr? will the examiner know if my nsr is de resticted and could he fail me if its been de reresticted?
thanks

hi.

on the A1 licence i think you can ride a 125 fully derestricted. as for the restriction side of things i doubt he will check about that, he won't have the time or means to do so, also the way you will ride your bike on the test you woun't be pushing it hard.

my advice though. go for a full test i don't think there is anything different between them really and you will kick yourself later for not taking the full test. i presume your not an old git so by the time your 2 year restriction passes you will be ready for a larger machine.

I could be wrong but thats it from memory

If they find out they can fail you, but be warned they will look carefully for anything that would not pass an MOT if you use your own bike.

As long as you dont ride too fast and there really is nothing it will fail the MOT for then you willl be fine, I would rather use a riding school CG though, much easier to do a "U" turrn on it and only takes a few hours to get used to a CG.

I've heard of people with RS 125s, having to open the tank (?) or something along those lines to prove its not been derestricted.

I was told not to use my NSR as on the practice not even the instructor could get it round the U-turn in one. They let me use a school SR125 for free after that. Much, much easier to do the U-turn on that.

They didn't notice it wasn't restricted either.

yes the yamaha sr 125 is easy 2 do a u turn on as i use 2 have one but they r crap. well they might be ok for the trst tho and i did a u turn on a narrow road on my nsr and my sis she was on her runner 125 and she couldnt do it. lol

I thought it'd be a bit odd to re-restrict it. £300 should easily be enough i done 3 tests and 6 hours training and it cost around 220. You should be fine. Just make sure you dnt fail on the u turn lol.

There's a reason you have to walk the bike round in the road just prior to doing the U-turn - it's to prove to yourself, and the examiner, that the bike can do a U-turn on that road. If it can't, the examiner will move off and have you try again - on a wider road.

My mate was talking to me about his friend who was doing the 33bhp test on a de-restricted RS125 and on the test day the examinor told him the test could not go ahead because there was no sticker on the frame to say it was restricted Confused

yeah did do it on the cbr. Keeping it for a while as well. Had an nsr before it but had electrical problems so sold it but there isnt a lot of difference even with what the cbr125 hating crew says.
