Pillion Problems

Today I took my mate on the bike, i've taken girls on the back before but never a 6ft guy (I am also 6ft).

The problem we had was that he couldn't get comfortable. I know my bike is hardly designed for twos up fun but even so..
The real issue was under braking we kept clashing helmets, even though he said he was bracing with his hands against the tank, which led to him trying to look either side of me (unsettling the bike on bends).

Has anybody else been in similar situations? I'm curious to hear about your pillion 'compatability' problems.

Its always the blokes, i have no problems with girls but when i take my gf's brother on the back it happens all the time, think they just figit to be honest, its worse when the topbox is off i findcoz they usually use it as a backrest.

Pillions are no bother, its down the rider being smooth really.

So long as pillions sit still you can still fly about just dont accelerate or brake as harshly.

Having said that I have done a stoppie with a pillion on and had my toes down.

Works very very well, and you can use the handles to hold yourself away from the rider while braking or accelerating.

Also makes it much more comfortable and easy to lean for the rider!

I don't braking the problem, moreso making gear changes smooth as I tend to let the clutch out quickly.

All well andgood tellin em what to do but wheter they listen or not is a different story.
My bane is when like my lil brother or gf's brother get on they figit like crazy - my brother thinks its funny to stick his arms out and leanthe opposite way and gf's brother tucks his head by my side.
Women make better pillions coz they damn well listen

The love handles look good but Im not sure I would like someone pushing on my waist whilst Im trying to brake. It could end up with me over the front and the pillion riding instead!! Or at least squashed plums

I gave my mate (biker) a lift on the back of a hired hornet 6 last year. Im eleven stone and about 5'9 hes about 14st and 6'4. The biggest problems were his knees that were up against my elbows and the fact he was trying to turn the bike in before I wanted to! The missus by comparison who is a right shortarse and is only about 4 foot nowt was a right pain in the arse. Just wouldnt sit still. After two explanations I lost my patience and now she wont get on any more, GOOD!
