hey all

I just got myself a great deal on a 2002 model Suzuki Bandit (unfaired) 600. I've passed my test but restricted as im not 21 yet. I was wondering if anyone knew what the bike would be like with the restrictor fitted or whether its a case of just getting the certificate then removing the restrictor.

Thanks

From what I've heard, the 600 Bandit is still a fairly capable bike when restricted. However, if the resrictors should 'fall out' a few months down the line (giving you time to get used to it), you will feel a nice step up in power Thumbs Up

My 600 bandit was a pig restricted you had a 3K power band to play with (6K gear changes).

There really is no point in restricting them. if your going to ride a bike restricted you should get a bike like an ER-5 which take very well to restriction.

The bigger IL4's dont.

Bikes restrictors tend to fall out after about 6 months, common fault Rolling Eyes
keep em in for a bit (6months maybe) then they might fall out going over a large speed hump.

oh almost forgot to ask what kind of speed i can expect from the restricted Bandit? If it can't keep up with motorway traffic the restrictor will "fall off" much earlier than expected.

Dont worry about keepin up, it will easily get 90- a ton with the restrictors in.
will be enough for you to get used to.

that's good. I read about someone who had them fitted and around about 60 or 70 the engine kept cutting out. I guess that's just his bad luck or something else wrong with the engine.

I will be carrying pillion at some point so i should think it would still hold up well enough then also. Let me know if you know otherwise, thanks all. Should be arriving tomorrow so i'll have a few days without it restricted finding a place to get it done.

I can't go to my local bike dealers as they now hate me Confused
I put a deposit on a GPZ, 50 quid, then said i'd pick it up tuesday and get a restrictor fitted. I guess they thought they would fit the restrictor before hand. Obviously i found this mint condition Bandit so i backed out of the sale, and they believe i owe them 150 for fitting a restrictor...even though i never agreed anything or paid for the bike. There's a Suzuki dealer about 5 miles away from my house so hopefully i can get it done there.

Any bike garage will do it, doesnt have to be done at a dealers.

My bandit at 33hp would do 100 or so mph, so no need to worry about that.

Haha that's where I had my Bandit restricted!

They don't do it themselves, they take it to a place called Dyno Torque who do it for them. So just give Dyno Torque a bell and they should be able to sort you out.

I can maybe get the number for you if you can't find it.
