I think you can get a replacement for about £15. Wouldn'tbe much use if the bike was a 125 though. Laughing

Edit: Actually, looking at this https://www.dvla.gov.uk/vehicles/lost_stolen.htm it seems replacements may be free now.

Edit again: Looking at the V20 form it is infact £7 for a replacement.

go with the idea of what some people do.
colour photocopy it, jam the photocopy into your holder, then keep the original with all your doc's. SHOULD be enough for the police, plus it takes like 5 seconds for them to check it on the computer anyway.

although it is actually an offence to duplicate a tax disk. a huge fine if i remember rightly.

how about buying summit like this...

https://www.jsaccessories.co.uk/Picts/Stock_36500000001.jpg

its pretty secure. they would have to undo bolts to get at it as opposed to just removing a rubber seal, then the disc falling out.

It's still only attached with 1 bolt though Wink

A good trick to stop you losing the lot through vibration is to loop a cable tie through the holder and onto the bike. That way if the main mounting bolt drops out the holder is till attached to the bike.

use of one those £3 security bolts then , that you can only undo with a special head , since the bolt is rounded off (domed) , keep it safe too , since they are a bastard to get off when you lose the tool to get them off. but thats what hacksaws are for.

That's not a bad idea actually Thumbs Up. Combine that with the cable tie (which WILL defeat any chav with a hacksaw) and you have the ultimate in security Laughing

Attach it to the fuel line. You lose the bike and have to go through insurance, but you get the satisfaction of having toasted a chav Very Happy

bigger CC bikes are of course more expensive, my NTV650 tax went up £2 (to £62), while my dads shite 1 litre town run about went down £5.

not a huge increase , but annoying none the less.

It's an offence to try and pass a duplicate off as the real thing. I have a copy of mine in the holder with the words:

COPY - ORIGINAL WITH OWNER

in CD pen across it.

Anyone's welcome to nick it, I'll just scan another one...

Laughing

nowadays coppers know in an instant if your bike is taxed so its less likely to be a hanging offence to have the photo copy,

some muppets will nic the disks off bikes to use in there chav mobiles in a poor attempt to fool cops into thinking there legal,,

They're ~£15 and held on with a single bolt, it's not surprising that people steal them.

I have still have the rubbish black plastic one, but have used of a bit of black tape to stop the seal coming off. It doesn't look as nasty as it sounds. Honest... Wink
