sis eating to much

ok my little sis is 12 and autistic and always gets her own way.

though the eating is getting to the worrying stage.

let me explain. i am a coalic so i cant eat alot and she wreaks all my food just cause she has to eat everything. she in livingroom now with:

massive bowl of angel delight, me strawberrys, 2 cornetoes and about 4 choc bars and massive dinner. thats a snack. she is not over weight but i am worried she will get tht way as last week i noticed hwer eating 6 mars ice cream bars for desert. she also had choc for breakfast.

she eats crap all day! it cant be healthy and no one seems to sya anything and i cant seem to stop her or she will box me. should be up to my parents by all these therpists arnt work a shilling at all.

this also i think contributes to her mood swings.

can i try and control this? advice please?

I havnt been on these forums for a long time, but yes I think you do need to stop that, but see if you can try and cut down first liek eating one less of something, then itll be easier for her to stop eating al the crap.
ou could also try replacing some of it with fruit to. I find raisens are good or grapes.

leave a few girlie magazines about , that always causes teens and pre teens dietary issues , thinking those airbrushed fake models are actually real and what men want (its what some men want not all).

but on a more serious note.

Either that or cook from scratch , you can control what goes into it and not put any profit increasing additives (which big food cos love) or stuff like hydogenated oils, and don't eat rabbit food , if you've ever had chinese egg noodles alone you'll just feel hungry half an hour later , satisfaction factor protein plays alot in this. (which is why the atkins diet semi works , meat satisfies you so you stop eating).

thnkas young gun, i just have to get my parents to stop buying her the stuff. her room is a health hazard also there food all over it moulding. i cant get over the amount of junk she eats. i just dont want her to become unhealthy and become another obese kid with alot of heath complications. ahe only has a few teeth left also she lost the big ones a while ago cause of rooting and she wont wash her teeth. infact she wont even wear clean cloths or any cloths half the time.

i need super nan in here big time.

she is autistic and has the mantaloty of a younger chils not a near teen. its difficult cause she will bring the house down if you try and stop her and when i try and stop her i am made to be the bad one for upsetting her. i am in an imposible situation with no help what so ever and hopeing for a miracle as i have to live her with this.

Could you just hide all the unhealthy food and replace it with healthy stuff? You should try and get your pairents to help stop her eating, just dont buy unhealthy foods and i would think after a while she will give up and start eating healthy stuff.

i am hoping to away her into my way of eating ie fruit. she normally just litfs my food on purpose and lets it mould. gets on my nerves that. my parents have spolied her and she is used to getting her choc and if she dosnt they could not be bothered with the ehadache. its a shame this cause i can see the way its going.

i shall have to take action myself and speak to my parents and also kill the shrink.

If the food is there she will eat it. I am the same, just eating an ice cream now, but only because there is a pack in the freezer - if there wasn't, I wouldn't have even wanted one!

Keep an eye on her and her behaviour and talk to your parents if it gets worse. They need to see that by buying her all this junk might give them a quiet life but it's not helping your sister in the long run. I'd have a serious talk to them about what you can all do to reverse the situation before it gets out of control.

Shit, 6 bars is like 1200 calories which is nearly half of what a full grown, active man should be eating in an entire day!

Massive sugar intake like that, over a long period will induce diabettes amongst other things. Your parents are responsible for her so I would say something, as a loving sister (but I'm a guy so I could never, ever say anything as a loving sister ).

My mates younger brother is Autistic, he went from Eight stone wet to about Thirteen stone in a year ( muscle mass not all fat ) and he shotup to about Six foot Two, the only way you can get him to do anything was to Bribe him.....And if he was about to throw a wobbla we fucking ran.....

But yes you need to explain your Concerns to your parents and get them to replace the unhealthy stuff.....she may kick off about it to start with but she'll get used to it in the end when she realises that all the shouting and stomping is getting her nowhere.....

Hope you get it sorted with the minimal amount of fuss/smashed plates.....

Speak to your Mom about why she doesn't want your sister on Medication and get your Dad to bring it up aswell as with the two of you she may see that it's Helpfull to your Sister.....If it's because she has Fears or Concerns about the Medication Offer to go to the doctors with her to discuss it.....

For a start Ritalin is used in ADHD and just zombifies children, it should only be used if your parents are absolutely sure and it is not a cure just a surpressant, even though ADHD is on the ASD spectrum it is a different condition. ADHD as well as Autism can be helped by diet, stopping all E numbers and eating a good healthy diet, also with supplements on Omega 3 and 6, this should help with concentration in an autistic person. There is no point in telling her to shut up in a tantrum because this is her form of expression, they get very uptight because they find it hard to express themselves and they dont understand other peoples emotions and feelings. If your angry, sad, whatever, she wont see that emotion in you. They find it hard to understand the word No and that is probably why your parents let her have what she wants because otherwise they have to cope with the outbursts, they have opted for the easy way which I certainly dont blame them because raising an autistic child is very hard at times, but also very rewarding as they strive.
Try to be understanding of your sister, talk to her about the food issue, try to encourage her to eat a healthy diet and the best way for you to do it is if you do it too, then she will most likely copy you. Talk to your parents and say what you are doing and suggest they do the same as well.

It sounds like a difficult situation for you but your parents are the key to changing or controlling her behaviour.
They probably need a wake up call if things have slipped. Maybe keep an accurate record of what your sister has eaten and show them at the end of the week. They might be shocked.
I wouldn't blame them for chucking your sister a mars bar for a bit of peace and quiet but surely appeasing such unhealthy eating is only going to make things worse.

Talking to her is the best way, make her feel more like an adult.

I would defiantly suggest talking to someone at a care home for autistic children and adults, they have seen it all before, if you explain to them the situation they will advise you on how to play things from now on.

i caught her eating a crunchie ice cream bar for breakfast. she actually ate all 4 of them ice creams by end of day leaving no one with desert on sunday as usual. i am powerless as i told my parents and they dont seem to be doing anything. the suger barrel was full other day now its half! i am fed up with trying to help and wish i could.

i wish i could try all the things you said but its hard when my mum gives this kid so much attention and fights against me when i try to help.

does your family doctor know about how much she is eating daily? prehaps if you went to speak to your doctor,s/he would talk to your parents about how this effecting your sister?

how much does your mum know about the condition, has she done any research in books, on the internet?
