Why are they so damned hard... ?

I can do burnouts (piece of piss..who cant Rolling Eyes).

I can waddle it forwards VERY slowly (but i worry about the amount of rubber im losing).

But actually pulling off?

I worked out you need to throttle on hard, and keep hand far from clutch (i cant stop myself playing with it and its how i stripped my clutch last time) so i hold the grip tight (makes it a bit dicier to stop), and release brake smoothly.

But i always end up with the back stepping round? Or the bike either stalls (before i learnt to nail the throttle as soon as you start moving) or simply stops spinning.

Only had one 'scary' moment in about 40 attempts earlier where the bike stopped spinning as it kicked round and the front tried to tuck. Asides from that pretty kosher.

But it just always seems to start coming round the side.

So, anytips to control it?

At the moment i just snap on brake, rev the tits off, dump clutch, start letting out the front brake and revving more (whilst at the same time putting my feet up and sitting down) and wait for something mad to happen.

Managed one that was pretty straight and about 20ft long.

Oh and going from rolling burnout to wheelie rules Mr. Green

You shouldn't be sitting down on a rolling burnout, you still need weight over the front wheel. Otherwise the rear grips too much. As for the wheel going round, that can turn into a donut which is much cooler Cool , but you've got to remember that countersteering rules apply for burnouts - turn left, go right.

Thought it was weight on pegs to steer.

Might try standing up/forwards next time. Just dont want to fuck the bike.

All your doing when you sit down is putting more weight on the rear tyre - not only will it grip too much, it will take more rubber off in a shorter space of time.

Burnouts are far too expensive anyway, I only do them on tyres which are so low they're illegal anyway. Laughing

Weight right over the front....

Have a search through here and find out how to get them going while rolling - which is a different skill again Smile.

Ok, so stand up and lean forward... ?

Anything else you can suggest to keep the back on the straight and narrow.

I want to be be the guy smoking it along at sorta 60. Not 20.

Also how is the 'clutch happy' way to stop them. I dont want to strip my clutch again (if possible) so im not covering it (i keep subconsciously feathering it), which only leaves brake. And thats been misbehaving. Nearly tucked the front yesterday.

So any tips to control them?

They are macadams, they are one step up from being made of stone.

And since in two days i go to athens for 2 weeks, then i get back for two weeks before i cant ride my bike for 5 months (uni), its of little concern if they get a bit squared off.

Look in front of you when you're doing it and not at the front wheel.

Once you get a bit of practice they're a piece of piss.

Lol been out trying them again. Had a MUCH better time of it basically sitting back on the bike (on the tank guard) with feet on the deck.

Letting the front brake out ALOT slowly helped too.

But i just cant see how you can put your feet up, and stand up without it going tits up (and hitting the deck).

How do you initiate them while still rolling/on the bike then.

As dumping the clutch at high revs while the front is still vaguely rolling (on brakes) sounds a recipe for disaster.

Go search on here - I've described it a few times.

Starting from a stationary one and moving off is possible as I did it a bit when I first started - kinda waddle off, sit down for a little then stand up.

Remember this sorta of thing is aided by a half decent front tyre, as well.

Basically, though, for a rolling burnout - go along at a walking pace, weight over the front. Then pull the front brake on, slip the clutch and increase revs as while at the same time increasing braking to keep your speed constant.
First few times you do it you will be killing your clutch a bit, but when you get used to it you can almost just twang it out to where you need it.

I did have a few looks, but just couldnt find it. Ill have another go just searching through your posts.

And i think its mainly my front tyre letting me down, keeps feeling like its going to tuck.

The fact i cant stoppy with it (at all) apart from just slamming on the front brake as you come to a stop and even then it sometimes slides means im pretty certain i'll bin it if i try.

Like i say i managed a fair few longer ones yesterday, but they were very very slow.

Main thing im having trouble with is keeping the back a) spinning and b) in a straight line.

Altho im getting better at controlling it when it goes sideways and still keeping the power on. May have a couple more goes tonight before i put her away.

Bah, sure I had a decent length explanation somewhere, can't find it either.

If you had a bit more time I could do you a decent deal on a part worn supercorsa front.

Lots of threads have 'vanished' including the Monty Hall one where I took £50 off COLINWALL.
