what effect does a full race exhaust have on low and mid rev torque on a sports 600 ?

I recently got a bargain slightly dented race exhaust for £60 and had thought id put it on, but Ive started thinking it might reduce the torque in the bit of the rev range I actually use.

I know the full system will help the top end, but i rarely get there.

So if I put it on to have the nice noise, will i make the bike less rideable at mid and low revs ?

I think this happened with my rs125, but as I rev that to the top of its rev range, its not a problem.

I suppose I could stay in first and redline it everywhere.

It will reduce mid range torque as the stock pipe will be tuned for a good spread. Open systems reduce performance at lower RPM to permit unrestricted top end performance.

Whether or not youd notice on the road i dont know. Doesnt make a huge change on big motors and on a revvy motor like a sports 600 it may not make a huge difference.

As bish says you might not notice. Your performance exhaust system uses pressure waves to increase gas flow, but only at a certain RPM (usually peak power) at half these revs the power will take a hit (for example if your bike makes peak power at 12k at 6k the power will fall.) If it were me id definitely fit it. It will give you more top end at the expense of some midrange, but I think you will feels the tope end benifit more than the midrange deficit. Thumbs Up

Mmmm not sure what effect the change would have on a TT600s FI system?

I wonder if a TT600 could be converted to carbs......

Colin, the only way you'll know for sure is to fit the system and spend some time riding with it Laughing I should think that your bike, being a revvy 600 without a great deal of low down torque, would be a lot more fun with more bang coming in at high revs.

The FI is not very good at adapting and has to be set up carefully afaik. It can be remapped with Tuneboy though, so you don't need a power commander.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

You could probably get a set of downdraught carbies and ditch the FI, the ignition module of the FI would probably be ok minus the injection.

chances are itll need to made FAR richer.

I went from stock box to pods and loudish pipe and had to go from 130 mains up to 152.5 which is quite a jump.

i was thinking of using a race can fuel map with the full system, but i guess it might benefit from being set up right with a dyno, in which case I wndt do that this year, maybe next year
