Wats the best 600 cc bike to have.

Thinking bout getting one.

Acceleration, and easy parts would be best, and of course, reliability.

Get the one you like the look of best.

600's whether sports or naked are all similar to each other.

You've got to consider what you want it for. I like my Divvy. Definitely not the best 600cc, but it's exactly what I want from a motorcycle for now.

For me too much plastic on a bike is too much plastic to get damaged and too much plastic to remove when working on it.

There have been planty of posts on this subject. The search facility on this forum is excellent.

If you want a track-style fast bike from that era, I'd reccomend the 99 R6. If you want a road biased fast bike, I'd go for a ZX6R.
If you want a bike to get from A to B that's quite cheap and has a decent engine, maybe a ZZR600.

Your budget and use, rather than the age of the bike should determine which area to be looking at.

Exactly..

You might as well ask.. whats the best motorbike..

For offroading? touring? trackdays? armed insurgencys??

Also consider the engine layout, a 600four will piss on a 600twin in terms of performance usually..

Write down everything you need to to be able to do, how much money you have to spend, what roads you use it on, which ones will be physicaly sit on able (if your short a tall bike will be tricky, if tall a small sports will be murder)

Put needs in order and then ask again Wink

a lot depends what bikes you find at your price

test ride a few as some will be knackered and you may prefer a different bike to everyone else

delbwoy is right about plastics being expensive when you drop your first big bike, so maybe think about getting something unfaired like a hornet, or riding your faired bike around for a few months without the fairings on until you no you arent going to drop it

if you drop it, chances are it will be within a few months of owning it and will then not drop it again for years if ever again

personnally i like tt600's as newish low mileage ones are far cheaper than anything similar and braided lines are standard

Well, i'm 6ft, and i use my ns125 to get to work, which if i went the long way(which i do cause i like riding)it takes only 10 minutes, but at weekends i like to go for rides.

When i pass my full test, i will be out on it more, maybe even longer journey's, then back home in a few hrs.

I have £1500, now i know i'm not going to get a superbike for this price, but one that looks nice and sporty, not so much top end speed, but acceleration.

So the zzr600 sounds bout right then!!

Thanks for your replys, exactly what i was looking for.

Acceleration and top end speed both need power - so they tend to go hand in hand.

Hornet like this;

Will accelerate with any other 600, and wont cost you your licence cus you dont want to go much faster than 100 on a naked bike.

Whatever you feel is right.

To get a decent sports you need £2500.

To get a half decent hornet/sv650/bandit/fazer you need £1500

How do you figure that?

You can good thundercats and aces for well under 2000, and FZRs can be had for under 1500 in good nick. Not to mention the horde of older GSXRs, ZXRs and CBRs of various vintages kicking around.

Ipicked up my GSXR1100 for 600 quid?
