Has anybody got the new 2006 Yamaha FJR1300a and what are they like to ride? Is the dry weight really 183.5kg as stated because this seems very light, although this may be because of the aluminium chassis. The seat height also seems low at just 780mm. I reckon this could well be my next bike!

the chassis and engine are identical to the earlier models.

the seat height isn't that high, but it's wide. I'm 5'8" with a 32" inside leg, and I'm on tiptoes on it.

and trust me, for a big bike it's not "heavy" but light it isn't Neutral

I was in SALE Yamaha today with a mate who is thinking about a new FJR1300, however, i talked him into a new R1 in Laguna Seca colours instead of his R6 and he's gonna buy a 2nd hand PAN EURO.
I was told today the FJ was 240kg dry..

The FJ's are nice bikes that was my second choice over the ZRX when I was looking for a muscle bike(didn't want aanother sports bike as everyone has them). They are heavy but the weight is low down and once you are moving it all disapears. Wink

Yeah, previous year's models are, which is why I wonder if they've got it wrong for the 1300a model. Compared to the others, it does seem incredibly light if this correct. This is where I got the spec from:

Err does the 748cc not give it away that its the wrong spec's?

Code:
Specifications

Engine:   L-twin cylinder, 4 valves per cylinder Testastretta Desmodromic; liquid cooled
Displacement:   748 cc
Max Power:   105.5 kw (143.5hp) @ 8000 rpm
Dry Weight:   183.5 kg / 405 lbs
Seat Height:   780 mm / 30.7 in
Fuel Capacity:   15.5 L / 4.1 US gal (includes 3 L / 0.8 US gal reserve)
Colours:   Red
Price:   RRP £10,799 OTR

Its giving you the specs of a Ducati by the look of it, as they are the only bikes that have L-Twin Testatrettsa motors.

Doh! So it does! Doh!

I never noticed that bit - I just skipped down to the bits which I needed to know like seat height and dry weight! Rolling Eyes
