 |
|
HI
Today me and my 50cc peugeot jet force TDSI went through something id rather not repeat in a hurry.
I was leaving school from my exam like i do everyday leaving school. Till about a mile down the road, doing 30mph (yes its restricted at that) i saw a black audi, he looked right (towards me) and then left. I thought he had seen me. i was aproaching the junction he was leaving when his wheels moved. I sounded my horn to try and catch his attention and started to break. He carried on coming out but he came out REALLY quick. It was to late i hit the front right corner of his car.
Luckily i sort of jumped off when it hit so i landed on my feet (lossing my shoe at the time) but the bike came off alot worse. Broken sterring , Water cooling was broken, the front was all cracked and the side where it had fallen was scrathed.
I loved that little bike and i was really unhappy to see it like that. I felt all shaken it was all over so quick. Although the driver said it was his mistake and his insurance will sort ETC, but i keep thinking why me i never do anything wrong on the roads, i obey the laws and want to be a keen rider when im older and ive only been driving it for 7months
Id basicly want some sensible advise on what to do next and the whole situation?
thanks
matt |

Well first things first - get your claim in and verify all the details to the police A.S.A.P.
After that , sit down and take it all in - most of us have had some kind of accident and we have to put it behind us and get on with it .
Yes, you might obey the road laws and are careful but other road users are not , time after time you hear about cars pulling out on bikes , it's just one of those things mate - unfortunatley for you , you got it first hand.
Main point is your safe !
That's what matters - don't let it put you off - what doesn't kill you only makes you more aware on the road
Good luck getting it sorted ____________________ Bike History:- Vision / Phantom 100 / Aerox 100 / Runner VX125 / Honda VFR400 NC24 / Kwak ZX9R B3 / Honda CBR600 F / ZZR400 & K2 GSXR 750 / Suzuki VZ800 |

Ye def treat all other drivers as out to get you and always assume they haven't seen you or are about to do something stupid.
I've had some, one specifically that springs to mind that HAD seen me and was so panicked at seeing a bike in his rear mirror that he swerved over to the right out of my way, and slammed the brakes on in the middle of a dual carriageway in moving traffic, not knowing what the heck he was going to do next i stopped, he just sat there and wouldn't move until I'd gone past lol
As for accidents I had one in my car, old guy went up the back of me at a roundabout, we swapped details (address name phone etc) and he seemed ok, got a quote but then he decided it didn't happen, phoned him, went around but he was having non of it.
If I ever have a crash again, I'm not moving anything or going anywhere until I have the police there and have a log number. no matter what it takes !

Try not to let it shake you up too much. You are obviously a careful rider, but as someone has already said its the other wankers on the road. Coming off your bike will make you more aware and give you experience. As soon as the bike is fixed get straight back on it I have come off 4 times and it has never put me off my bike ____________________ Bikes had : BMW F650, suzuki tr50, gt125, SV400, GSXR600 SRAD. Unlucky about the crash, car drivers just dont concentrate on the road. I wouldn’t bother beeping, scooter horns are so quiet they are unlikely to hear you, as you discovered. Just concentrate on braking and getting out their way. ____________________ Rieju MRX 50 Castrol Edition |

heading from Buckingham to Milton Keynes yesterday there was a BMW driver talking away on his mobile, doing 40 in the 60, turning without indicating etc.
I was behind him looking for a way past and he floored it as I was pulling past him and I had to back off sharpish as my window of opportuninty to get past was closed and I was risking a head on (with an ambulance of all things).
I dropped back and decided discretion was the better course of action. The nutter was still yabbering away on the phone as I filtered past him 15 miles later. I guess the embarrasment of being overtaken by me would have interrupted his phone call...
Mind you, a Ninja nipped past both of us through a gap I didn't even realise existed.. ____________________ What's my New Year's resolution?
