Source Bury Journal + MEN + Granada Reports,

Manchester ie all the M ,SK and B post codes , are to have rear number plate reading cameras set up to enforce bus lanes (read to scoop more money) , as they are often used by vehicles not allowed to use them , and it is the first place outside London that will be allowed to do this , note bikes are not allowed to use Bus lanes outside London either.

£80 fine ,

I'd be okish with that (probably cus I'm filtering in the right) cept that buses don;t even use bus lanes , even when those lanes are completely clear.

though interesting opportunities for nasty BMW drivers who speed right up your arse and use the empty bus lane to undertake you.

As long as they don't use the OL postcodes, I'm OK Rolling Eyes

Tameside have halved one of the main roads through Ashton by use of a bus lane. End result : tailbacks and people hopping from lane to lane to try and be legit.

In the 80's I used to ride along the pavement on that stretch Twisted Evil

Cheers,

Byrnie.

I dont think so but most people do anyway... Some of the roads round here are bus lanes only ands its faster to just use them than to go another way..

Yes they are, well in a few places.
There's 'studies' going on in a few cities were bikes are allowed in certain bus lanes. I know Hull is one of them, Birmingham maybe another, but don't have info on others.

I think it's BMF (and MAG?) policy to try and get it adopted nationwide.

Found this link for South Gloucestershire too.
