Bere with me on this one. the pc is playing up so it will take time to get this post up
Just bought this !

I have built loads of bikes, usually odd and unusual old things but this old girl caught my eye
Research shows that there are only 57 of thes still on the road in the uk (out of 470 orginally registered)
Its a bit of strange old girl, never that popular due to cam wear issues on this model (this ones fine) making it a poor seller.
This was in direct competition with the Kawasaki gpz 900r, (better in every way
)
The best thing about these is the superb v4 motor, bags of torque and around 115 bhp.
They even raced them one came 2nd at the TT in the proddie class.
I really dont care about profit, or loss, it is just a bit of of hobbie
restoring bikes but I really think this one might be a keeper.
She is 99% original, very low milage and athough bits are peppered with spot of rust this one is in brilliant condition.
Now then . Old Hondas are starting to become rather collectable, look at old superdreams, cb 750s, 400/4s etc, they are getting very
difficult to find in original condition.
Original condition it the key to any classic machine but im really not sure if this will be classed as a classic for another 20 years or so
.
If anyone out there has some some helpfull thought on these bikes let me know,.
I will bump this thread up over a long time with pics of the restoration, i recon on a year or so due to the fact that i still have two bikes in the que to finish first |

I can't believe the prices for these bikes. Buying a nice used bike in Canada is quite a bit more of an investment . You have to spend at least $3,000 (1,455 GBP) for something good, despite the age. I've had my eyes peeled for awhile and most examples are still a bit outside of my price range while I save up. I might just have to wait until next spring to pick something up considering the limited biking season. |

You cant compare an austin allegro with a Morris Minor, they're 20 years apart!.
Austin Allegro
Thirty-one years after its launch the Austin Allegro has become the ultimate ironic classic car. It was Britain's equivalent to Ford's 1950s marketing disaster the Edsel, and became the symbol of everything that was wrong with British Leyland in the '70s. Billed as the volume-selling saviour of what was then still the world's fourth largest car manufacturer, this dumpy family saloon seemed to get off to a bad start from which it never really recovered. It leaked, its rear screen popped out if you jacked it up in the wrong place and, for some reason, it had a square steering wheel. What's more, if you believed everything you read in the Daily Mail, it was thrown together by Communists who, if they weren't on strike, were kipping on the nightshift. It seems eternally wrapped up in that grim '70s world of the three-day week and power cuts...

Leyland baby: The Allegro was not only a replacement for the bestselling 1100/1300, but a higher-tech supplementary model to the utterly conventional Marina in Leyland's plan for world domination |
