Whilst in the middle of one of my other projects (honda vfr400, see sig).
I decided to pull out an old frame that was given to me a long time ago.
The only RGV parts i have are the vj21 chassis and the bottom yoke.
Not needing the VFR front end i had just pulled off i was surprised to see that the VFR forks fitted the RGV bottom yoke.
And so starts 'Project HONDZUKI'.
https://i475.photobucket.com/albums/rr119/Timon1983/VFR%20400%20nc30/Photo039-1.jpg
Parts I have for the project;
RGV vj21 chassis
RGV vj21 bottom yoke
Honda FMX650 engine and loom
Honda VFR400 complete front end
Honda VFR400 rear wheel
Honda VFR400 grp race seat unit
Honda VFR400 swingarm and hub etc
Parts i need;
RGV vj21 top yoke
RGV vj21 fuel tank
Honda VFR400 grp race fairing
This is a project built from all the parts I already have and with the intention of building a budget race bike. All parts donations accepted

Because I am changing all the rear shock mounts for VFR linkages I want to be careful to keep the nimble RGV geometry. These are the dimensions I will be using.

Does anyone have the swingarm pivot height so i can jig the bike up?
The RGV vj21 also uses an 18 inch rear wheel, this means I can keep the 8 degrees swingarm droop angle (although i might raise it to 9 degrees to get jack the rear of the bike up slightly)
Last night i also found out the VFR swingarm spindle diameter is perfect for the RGV frame, machined the frame out slightly and the swinarm is in with gaps either side so i can centre it later on with spacers.
Also trail fitted the seat unit. Will get some pics up soon.

THis looks really interesting I will be following this, good luck
Would sort of power is the FMX engine putting out? will you be doing any work on it? What exhaust will you be using? I can't imagine the standard FMX exhaust would fit a sports bike chassis and fairings. ____________________ Well, you know what they say. this is all great and everything... but whats the point?
less powerful than both an RGV and a VFR. ____________________ Blue_SV650S wrote: it was a sh1te wheelie, but it proves that he can get it up in 3rd and can do angles. In summery, mattsprattuk is a gobby little sh1tebag, dopehead tw4t, but sadly for all of us, he probably isn't THAT full of sh1te!!

I've been plotting a similar project to this but i was planning a supermono track bike so i was thinking a 70bhp motor is what to aim for. Why not get it going with the free engine, then when cash is more available upgrade to something special?
It's one thing to think and talk about things but quite another to just get on with it. Full marks for effort so far |
